Role Description

The IB PYP Homeroom Teacher role at Sovo School is a full time, on-site position based in Chandigarh. The teacher will plan and deliver inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework, integrate transdisciplinary themes, and create a supportive and engaging classroom environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing units of inquiry, assessing student progress, maintaining detailed records, providing regular feedback, and reporting to families and school leadership. The role involves collaborating with other teachers to coordinate curriculum, participate in professional development, and contribute to school events and enrichment activities.



The homeroom teacher will also support students’ social-emotional development and promote a secure, inclusive, and respectful learning culture.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred)
IB PYP teaching certification or relevant IB training is an advantage
2+ years of teaching experience at the primary level
Strong understanding of inquiry-based and concept-driven learning
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Proficiency in English; additional languages a plus
A genuine passion for working with young children

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework
Implement the Programme of Inquiry and integrate the six transdisciplinary themes
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports each child's development
Use formative and summative assessment to track and support student progress
Collaborate with grade-level colleagues and specialist teachers in planning
Communicate regularly with parents on student growth and classroom activities
Maintain a safe, stimulating, and well-organized learning environment
Participate in professional development and school-wide events
