About Our Client
Our client is a alternative investment firm.
Job Description
Responsibilities/Deliverables:
- Build and maintain monitoring and alerts for assigned Fabric capacities, workspaces, refreshes, and scheduled jobs, and identify disruptive workloads.
- Detect, triage, and investigate platform-layer incidents, including refresh and scheduling failures, and own follow-through until resolved by the responsible team.
- Maintain approved capacity protections, such as surge protection, tune thresholds, and recommend capacity or scheduling changes.
- Monitor workspace permissions and role assignments and recommend least-privilege and group-based improvements to the service desk and business owners who administer access.
- Report on usage, ownership, capacity consumption, and service reliability, recommending cleanup and improvements.
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and support handoffs, and improve routine operations through standardization and appropriate automation.
- Support release and change-control practices for analytics content, including pre-release checks, post-deployment validation, and rollback coordination.
- Partner with platform engineering, the service desk, and delivery teams, raising gaps early and demonstrating outcomes through agreed metrics.
- Maintain on-premises data gateway clusters and servers, including version currency, cluster health, log monitoring, and connectivity triage, and coordinate credential and connection renewals with the responsible teams.
- Provide cross-team operational support for the Business Objects reporting platform, partnering with the teams that own it on monitoring, triage, and stability.
The Successful Applicant
We are looking for someone -
- Typically 5 to 8 years in Fabric / Power BI platform administration or production support, with hands-on depth across workspace and capacity operations, refresh schedules, gateways, and monitoring.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven operational ownership in a ticket-based support environment, including incident investigation, escalation, and resolution.
- Hands-on experience interpreting capacity metrics, logs, and alerts, and establishing alerting where it does not yet exist.
- Ability to diagnose refresh, connectivity, and query-performance issues and distinguish platform and credential problems from content causes.
- Hands-on experience administering on-premises data gateways, including installation, clustering, version updates, and log-based troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of workspace roles, access governance, and release management practices; exposure to Git or Azure Dev Ops is a plus.
- Fabric experience is preferred; equivalent depth administering Power BI Premium or Power BI Service at enterprise scale is also acceptable.
- Exposure to SAP Business Objects (BI platform administration or support) is a plus but not essential. It is not a requirement, and strong Fabric and Power BI operators without BO background are encouraged to apply.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with reliable documentation and handoffs across teams and time zones.
- Demonstrated record of identifying operational improvements, working them through with partner teams, and showing the result in measurable terms
What's on Offer
- Chance to work in the business services industry.
- Having global exposure and working with global stakeholders.
