Founding AI Engineer

Founding engineering hire. Hands-on technical ownership. Direct collaboration with the founders. Project Vision is an early-stage consumer AI venture operating in stealth. We are building a product at the intersection of multimodal intelligence, natural voice interaction and responsive visual interfaces. Our ambition is to make interactions with AI more contextual, useful and intuitive. We are hiring one Founding AI Engineer to take ownership of the initial technical build—from architecture and model integration to a working product that people can use. You will begin as our sole engineer, working directly with the founders and founding team. You should be comfortable making technical decisions, writing substantial code yourself, identifying risks early and taking responsibility for the complete user experience. What you will own
• Translate the product vision into a focused MVP, technical architecture and achievable development milestones.
• Build the first product across AI services, backend systems and a usable mobile-oriented interface.
• Integrate image/video understanding, voice input, spoken responses and contextual reasoning.
• Build reliable orchestration for model calls, tools, retrieval, session state and user-authorized memory.
• Develop structured visual responses using appropriate combinations of text, imagery, diagrams, comparisons and other interface components.
• Engineer streaming, synchronization and interruption handling so users can change direction without losing conversational continuity.
• Select models and infrastructure through practical experiments involving quality, latency, reliability and cost.
• Establish evaluation datasets, regression checks, logging and monitoring.
• Implement appropriate controls for camera/microphone access, personal data, stored preferences and external actions.
• Own deployment, documentation and the engineering foundations that future contributors can build upon. The initial approach will combine existing AI capabilities with original product engineering. You will help determine where custom development creates meaningful value.



What we need to seeEvidence of shipping You have built and deployed AI-enabled software beyond tutorials and isolated demonstrations. You can explain your personal contribution, the architecture, the failures encountered and what changed after real usage. Strong software engineering You can build reliable asynchronous services, APIs, data models and stateful applications. You understand debugging, testing, deployment and operational responsibility. Applied AI depth You have practical experience with model APIs, structured outputs, tool use, context management and evaluation. You understand the limitations of probabilistic systems and build appropriate controls around them. Multimodal and real-time capability You can demonstrate relevant work involving visual understanding, voice, streaming or interactive media—and explain how you would combine these into a responsive product. End-to-end product ownership You can work across backend and frontend boundaries and deliver a coherent experience. You care about what the user sees, hears and can successfully accomplish. Sound technical judgment You can make scope decisions, choose sensible dependencies, measure trade-offs and communicate when an assumption needs validation. Independent execution You are comfortable beginning without an established engineering team or a fully specified implementation plan. You can turn ambiguity into experiments, decisions and working software. Particularly relevant experience
• Real-time voice, audio/video applications, WebRTC, WebSockets or similar streaming systems.
• Vision-language models and image/video processing pipelines.
• Energetic interfaces, scene composition, graphics or multimedia synchronization.
• Mobile applications or responsive browser-based products.
• Personalization, retrieval and permission-based memory.
• Taking an early product from an initial prototype to sustained real-world use.
• Building effectively with AI coding tools while retaining ownership of correctness and maintainability.

Experience and qualificationsWe expect most suitable candidates to have approximately 4–10 years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on AI product work. Demonstrated capability matters more than an exact experience bracket, college name or degree. Candidates outside this range with exceptional relevant work are welcome. What the first six months should establishThe objective is a focused, usable product suitable for early-user testing and investor demonstrations, supported by evidence about technical feasibility, experience quality, reliability and operating cost. You will help define the scope and milestones with the founders. The broader product roadmap will evolve from what we learn. What this role offers
