Key Responsibilities of a Home Care Nurse

- Vitals Monitoring: Tracking blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen levels, and blood sugar.
- Medication Administration: Ensuring correct dosages of oral medicines, giving injections, and managing IV therapy.
- Wound & Surgical Care: Cleaning, dressing, and managing post-operative wounds, stitches, or bedsores.
- Medical Equipment Management: Operating and monitoring devices like oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, feeding tubes (Ryle's tube), and catheters.
- Personal Hygiene Support: Assisting patients with bathing, grooming, changing clothes, and turning bedridden patients to prevent bedsores.
- Emergency Response & Coordination: Identifying critical changes in health and instantly communicating them to the treating doctor or family.

Typical Shift Formats

- 12-Hour Shifts: Usually split into separate day or night shifts for continuous monitoring.
