Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned, hands-on technology leader for the role of Vice President – Software Engineering / Bar Raiser. In this role, you will be responsible for defining technical strategy, driving enterprise-grade architectural design, and upholding the highest standards of technical excellence across multi-functional engineering teams.

As a Bar Raiser, you will be the final authority on technical hiring, architectural rigor, and system scalability, blending executive engineering leadership with active technical direction across modern Java backend microservices and high-performance React frontends.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Engineering Leadership

- Serve as a technical Bar Raiser, enforcing code quality, robust architectural patterns, and engineering discipline across cross-functional product squads.
- Drive the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) within high-velocity Agile/Scrum environments.
- Mentor and grow senior engineering talent, Principal Architects, and Engineering Managers.
- Lead strategic technology roadmaps in alignment with business objectives and product vision.

Architecture, Backend & Distributed Systems

- Architect, design, and optimize highly scalable, fault-tolerant backend applications and distributed microservices using up-to-date Java.
- Establish best practices for enterprise RESTful API development, distributed caching, and database interaction.
- Oversee system reliability, capacity planning, and deployment across both Linux and Windows Server operating environments.




- Drive performance tuning, memory management, and latency reduction at the application and JVM levels.

Frontend Engineering & User Experience

- Provide technical oversight and governance for enterprise web applications built with React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
- Enforce state management design standards using Redux or Context API for complex UI workflows.
- Ensure all client applications adhere to industry-leading web performance optimization standards, responsive design principles, and web accessibility guidelines.
- Bridge seamless integration between complex frontend user interfaces and underlying backend microservices.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

- Experience: 16+ years of progressive software engineering and enterprise architecture experience, with a track record of leading large teams and driving organizational technical excellence.
- Backend Expertise: Deep expertise in developing, architecting, and optimizing Java-based enterprise applications and microservices.
- Frontend Competence: Strong hands-on proficiency in React, modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and complex state management (Redux / Context API).
- API & System Design: Demonstrated success in designing resilient RESTful APIs and distributed systems handling high-throughput workflows.
- Infrastructure Fluency: Solid operational proficiency with both Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Delivery & Governance: Proven experience running agile engineering teams, defining release pipelines, and maintaining end-to-end SDLC governance.
- Leadership & Pedigree: Prior experience operating in high-growth GCCs, product engineering organizations, or top-tier technology consulting firms in a senior director or VP-level capacity.
