About the role

Avartana Labs is looking for a Video Animator for an education project: turning stories and poems from school textbooks into fully moving, narrated videos for classrooms. You will take a page of text and a few illustrations and turn them into a video that holds a child’s attention from start to finish, using hand animation, AI tools, or both.

Responsibilities

- Turn stories, poems and passages into short animated videos, typically 1–3 minutes each.
- Bring still illustrations to life by hand: separate them into layers, rig characters, and keyframe movement, camera moves, parallax and effects.
- Use AI image-to-video and image tools where they speed things up or fill gaps, and blend their output cleanly with hand-animated work.
- Build each video scene by scene so the visuals follow the text line by line, with every frame in motion, not static slides.
- Sync animation to voice narration and on-screen captions, and mix background music so the voice stays clear.
- Keep characters, style and colour consistent across the whole series.
- Deliver clean 1080p files on schedule, with project files and scene timings.

Requirements





- A portfolio of animated videos made from still images and/or text.
- Strong manual animation skills in After Effects or similar tools (Animate, Toon Boom, Moho, Blender, Rive, Spine): keyframing, easing, character rigging (Puppet / DUIK or similar), parallax and 2.5D camera.
- Photoshop or similar for cutting illustrations into animatable layers and painting in missing background.
- Video editing in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar, including cutting to narration, transitions and audio mixing.
- Working experience with AI video and image tools (Kling, Veo, Runway, Luma, Wan, Midjourney, Flux, Firefly or similar), and judgement on when to use them and when hand animation is better.
- Strong visual storytelling, and comfort creating gentle, age-appropriate content for young learners.

Nice to have

- Illustrated or watercolour animation styles.
- Frame-by-frame 2D animation.
- Experience with educational or children’s content.
- Scripting or templates for producing many videos efficiently.
