The candidate must be capable of independently designing, calculating, developing, testing, and executing the complete production process while training and guiding the manufacturing workforce in the correct procedures.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Absorbent Cotton Gauze Design and Product Development

- Develop precise fabric designs and technical specifications for absorbent cotton gauze used in medical and wound care applications.
- Understand the required fabric structure, width, length, weight, density, absorbency, texture, and other relevant product characteristics.
- Determine the appropriate yarn specifications and fabric construction based on the intended product application.
- Develop customised designs to meet specific product requirements while ensuring compatibility with the intended manufacturing process.
- Convert product requirements into practical, production-ready technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing instructions.
- Willing to travel to the when it requires, to know the end user requirements.
- Willing to travel when asked for sourcing yarn, detailing the specifications at the process and while consulting expertise, institution.

B. Textile Calculations and Material Optimisation

- Calculate exact yarn consumption, fabric length, fabric width, warp requirements, weft requirements, and material utilisation.
- Understand yarn counts and their impact on fabric weight, density, strength, texture, and overall performance.
- Perform accurate warp and weft calculations based on the required construction and applicable product specifications.
- Calculate anticipated shrinkage, loom losses, cutting losses, and other sources of material wastage.
- Develop production calculations that maximise usable output and minimise avoidable raw material consumption.
- Establish standardised calculation sheets for fabric production, costing, yield assessment, and wastage control.

C. Loom Selection and Weaving Compatibility

- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of different loom types, their operating mechanisms, and their suitability for manufacturing absorbent cotton gauze.
- Evaluate loom width, speed, weaving limitations, yarn compatibility, fabric construction, and production capacity before finalising a design.
- Develop designs that are technically compatible with the available loom and capable of delivering consistent production output.
- Determine appropriate loom settings, weaving parameters,

and process adjustments in coordination with production personnel.
- Troubleshoot weaving defects, fabric irregularities, excessive yarn consumption, and production inefficiencies.
- Recommend suitable process improvements, loom adjustments, or design modifications to enhance productivity and reduce wastage.

D. British Pharmacopoeia and Indian Pharmacopoeia Standards

- Understand and interpret the applicable requirements of the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) and Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) relevant to absorbent cotton gauze and associated medical textile products.
- Translate applicable pharmacopoeial specifications into measurable fabric parameters, quality requirements, and production controls.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure that fabric construction and manufacturing processes meet the relevant approved specifications.
- Maintain technical documentation, product specifications, inspection criteria, and process records.
- Ensure that design and production decisions are aligned with applicable standards, customer specifications, and quality requirements.

E. Production Process Development and Standardisation

- Establish a complete workflow from understanding the product requirement to design finalisation, calculation, loom setup, sample development, production approval, and final quality verification.
- Prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical work instructions, and process control documents.
- Create repeatable production methods that ensure consistency between batches.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Coordinate with procurement, production, quality assurance, and management teams to achieve reliable output and cost efficiency.

F. Staff Training and Technical Leadership

- Train and supervise weaving operators, production workers, and other relevant staff in fabric specifications, loom settings, material calculations, and quality requirements.
- Demonstrate the correct methods of executing production processes rather than relying solely on theoretical knowledge.
- Ensure that employees understand and follow approved SOPs, production instructions, and quality control procedures.
- Assess staff competency, identify training gaps, and provide practical demonstrations and corrective guidance.
- Establish accountability for process compliance, product consistency, productivity, and wastage reduction.

3. Required Technical Competencies The candidate must have demonstrable knowledge of:

- Absorbent cotton gauze and medical textile construction.
- Textile yarn counts and yarn consumption calculations.
- Warp and weft density, ends per inch (EPI), picks per inch (PPI), and fabric construction.
- Fabric GSM, width, length, shrinkage, and dimensional tolerances.
- Loom types, loom capacity, weaving parameters, and fabric-machine compatibility.
- Fabric yield, production efficiency, costing, and wastage calculations.
- Technical drawings, fabric specification sheets, and sample development.
- Relevant British Pharmacopoeia and Indian Pharmacopoeia requirements.
- Quality inspection,

process validation where applicable, SOP preparation, and workforce training.

4. Educational Qualifications

Preferred candidates:

- Graduates or postgraduates from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), particularly in Textile Design or a related specialisation.
- Candidates from reputed textile technology, textile engineering, or textile design institutions.
- Candidates with specialised training or practical experience in weaving technology, cotton textiles, or medical textile manufacturing.

Important: A fashion design qualification alone will not be sufficient. The candidate must also possess strong technical textile knowledge and practical weaving or production experience. 5. Experience Requirements

- Preferably 37 years of relevant experience in textile design, weaving, fabric development, or textile production.
- Experience with cotton gauze, absorbent cotton textiles, medical textiles, or comparable woven fabrics will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in loom selection, warp and weft calculations, fabric optimisation, and production wastage reduction.
- Proven ability to train production personnel and implement standardised manufacturing procedures.

Candidates with exceptional technical expertise and hands-on experience may also be considered outside the preferred experience range. 6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The selected candidate will be evaluated on:

1. Accuracy of fabric design and technical calculations.
2. Reduction in raw material wastage and avoidable production losses.
3. Improvement in usable fabric yield and loom efficiency.
4. Consistency of fabric construction and adherence to approved specifications.
5. Successful development of production-ready designs.
6. Effectiveness of SOP implementation and staff training.
7. Reduction in weaving defects, rework, and production deviations.
8. Compliance with applicable pharmacopoeial and quality requirements.

7. Ideal Candidate Profile We are looking for a technically strong, analytical, and hands-on professional who can combine the design capabilities of a textile designer with the practical expertise of a weaving technologist and production specialist.

The ideal candidate should be able to study a product requirement, understand the intended medical textile application, calculate the exact construction and material requirements, select the appropriate loom parameters, minimise wastage, and guide the production team in executing the design accurately.
