- Greet the mother upon arrival and record baseline vitals (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration).
- Monitor uterine contractions and check fetal heart rate (FHR) using fetoscopes or electronic cardiotocography (CTG) monitors.
- Review obstetric history, laboratory investigations, and physical examinations.
- Assist obstetricians and medical officers during normal deliveries, assisted/instrumental deliveries, and emergency Cesarean (C-section) preparations.
- Administer prescribed medications, intravenous (IV) fluids, and pain-relief measures (such as epidural support) following hospital safety and double-check protocols.




- Maintain active partograph plotting to track the progress of labor.
- Provide continuous physical coaching and emotional support to the mother and her family.
- Assist with neonatal resuscitation and stabilize distressed infants.
- Initiate early skin-to-skin contact and support initial breastfeeding guidance.
- Strictly follow infection control, bio-medical waste segregation, handwashing, and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate statutory registers, drug stock logs, and shift handover reports in compliance with standards like NABH.
