ServiceNow SOMT Developer

Responsibilities

- Configure service-order intake, validation, decomposition and fulfilment using approved service specifications, relationships, rules and reusable flows or subflows.
- Implement TMF641 request and response mappings, order status and milestone events, and tactical TMF638-style service-inventory notifications through the agreed mediation layer.
- Build manual tasks, approvals, queues and native workspace forms for Build engineers to record supplier references, service identifiers, fulfilment data and exceptions.
- Implement Create, Cease and approved change journeys with state validation, audit history and controlled recovery. Distinguish in-flight order amendments from changes to an active service.
- Implement correlation, validation, authentication, duplicate handling, retries and diagnostic logging. Keep order events and service-inventory events distinct.
- Work with the architect and modeller on catalogue mappings, reliable identifiers, inventory updates and model version compatibility; reproduce platform gaps using agreed payloads.
- Own component, API contract, negative-path and regression tests before each release. Support client-led SIT, UAT and operational testing with evidence, diagnosis and correction of assigned defects.
- Maintain reviewed source and configuration, deployment packages, rollback guidance and technical notes. Assess affected components when platform patches or API contracts change.
- Demonstrate delivered features and coach client developers through code walkthroughs, small changes, testing and troubleshooting. Senior developers also lead component reviews and mentor colleagues.

Essential experience and skills





- Hands-on ServiceNow development with demonstrable telecom order-management or service-fulfilment implementation experience. Explain the components you personally configured, coded and tested.
- JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting, including Script Includes, Business Rules, GlideRecord, access controls and maintainable server-side logic.
- Flow Designer or equivalent supported workflow configuration, reusable actions and subflows, task dependencies, approvals and exception handling.
- REST and JSON integration development, schema validation, authentication and asynchronous event handling; practical understanding of TMF641 service orders and TMF638 inventory concepts.
- Working knowledge of CFS and RFS specifications, catalogue-driven decomposition and service-inventory relationships; ability to follow approved source-to-target mappings.
- Native workspace and form configuration, reproducible API tests using tools such as Postman, regression testing, peer review and controlled deployment practices.
- Clear technical documentation and the ability to work with business analysts, modellers, architects and client test teams across locations.

Desirable experience

- ServiceNow Automated Test Framework, UI Builder, source-control integration and application or update-set deployment experience.
- Telecom CMDB or TSOM exposure; broadband, CPE or satellite-access domain knowledge; experience investigating platform-version compatibility.
- Relevant ServiceNow administration or application-development certifications. Vendor-controller integration experience is useful for future phases.

Expected deliverables

- Reviewed workflows, integration scripts, workspace configuration and implementation notes linked to approved stories.
- Reusable tests, sample payloads, regression evidence and diagnostic information for each release.
- Versioned deployment and rollback assets, plus walkthroughs that enable client developers to maintain the delivered components.
