With a selective intake of around 200 students per year, 2ndRank offers a school-like experience built on individual attention and tailored learning plans. Tutors work closely with each learner to build confidence, strengthen core skills, and foster a positive attitude toward learning.

Role Description The Science Tutor (USA Shift) role is a full-time, remote position focused on delivering high-quality, one-on-one online science lessons to students aged 5–16, primarily aligned with US curricula and time zones. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting engaging live sessions, explaining scientific concepts in clear, age-appropriate language, and adapting teaching approaches to individual learning needs and pace.

The tutor will assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of lessons and performance. Additional duties may include creating practice exercises, coordinating with caregivers on student progress,



and collaborating with the wider tutoring team to continually improve instructional materials and methods.

Qualifications

- Robust subject-matter expertise in general science for K–12, with the ability to teach topics such as biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science at various grade levels.
- Demonstrated experience in online or classroom teaching, tutoring, or academic coaching, with skill in managing live 1:1 sessions and engaging younger learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas simply, listen actively, and build rapport with students and caregivers.
- Proficiency with online teaching tools and learning platforms, and comfort using digital resources, interactive whiteboards, and technology to support instruction.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including lesson planning, progress tracking, and reliable adherence to USA shift schedules.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, education, or a closely related field; advanced coursework or teaching credentials are an advantage.
- Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching, patience, and a growth mindset that supports students who need additional help to excel.
- Prior experience with US curriculum standards or standardized test preparation (e.g., middle/high school science exams) is highly beneficial.
