Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP HCM UK Payroll Techno-Functional Consultant with 8+ years of relevant experience in SAP HCM and UK Payroll. The ideal candidate should have solid hands-on expertise in SAP Payroll configuration, technical support, enhancements, troubleshooting, and UK payroll processes.

The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders and clients to understand payroll requirements, implement effective SAP HCM Payroll solutions, resolve complex issues, and ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities

Configure, implement, enhance, and support SAP HCM UK Payroll solutions.

Demonstrate strong functional knowledge of UK payroll processes, statutory requirements, and payroll legislation.

Handle payroll schemas, PCRs (Personnel Calculation Rules), wage types, and payroll functions.

Work on SAP HCM Payroll configuration, including payroll processing, retroactive accounting, off-cycle payroll, and payroll reconciliation.

Support UK statutory payroll requirements, including PAYE, National Insurance (NI), tax calculations, pensions, and year-end activities.

Analyse business requirements and translate them into functional and technical SAP HCM Payroll solutions.

Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

Work on technical objects and enhancements such as ABAP debugging, reports, interfaces, user exits, and enhancements, as applicable.

Support payroll integrations with SAP HCM modules, time management, finance, and third-party payroll systems.

Participate in system testing, integration testing, UAT, and payroll parallel runs.





Prepare functional specifications, technical documentation, test scenarios, and support documentation.

Collaborate with clients, business users, and technical teams to deliver reliable payroll solutions.

Ensure payroll data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable UK payroll regulations.

Required Skills and Experience

8+ years of relevant experience in SAP HCM Payroll, with strong hands-on exposure to UK Payroll.

Strong understanding of UK payroll processes, statutory deductions, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and year-end processing.

Hands-on experience with SAP HCM Payroll configuration, schemas, PCRs, wage types, and payroll drivers.

Experience in SAP HCM Payroll implementation, rollout, enhancement, and production support.

Good understanding of SAP HCM Personnel Administration (PA), Organizational Management (OM), and Time Management integration with Payroll.

Ability to analyze payroll issues and provide functional and technical solutions.

Knowledge of ABAP debugging and technical troubleshooting is expected for the techno-functional role.

Experience in payroll testing, reconciliation, parallel runs, and defect resolution.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with international payroll clients or managed payroll service providers.

Exposure to SAP HCM Payroll implementation and migration projects.

Knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central integration with SAP HCM Payroll.

Experience with payroll interfaces, third-party integrations, and reporting.
