: Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and skilled Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. The candidate will be responsible for assisting in respiratory assessments, managing ventilatory support, monitoring patient conditions, and delivering appropriate respiratory therapy in coordination with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess patients with respiratory disorders and assist in developing appropriate respiratory care plans.
- Administer respiratory treatments, including nebulization, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance techniques as prescribed.
- Operate and monitor mechanical ventilators and other respiratory support equipment.
- Assist in the management of patients requiring non-invasive ventilation (NIV), CPAP, and BiPAP.
- Perform and assist with pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas (ABG) sample collection or analysis, as authorized and within the scope of practice.
- Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, and respiratory parameters to assess patient response to treatment.
- Assist physicians during intubation, extubation, and other airway management procedures.
- Provide respiratory care to patients in the ICU, emergency department, and other clinical areas as required.
- Perform equipment checks, cleaning,



disinfection, and maintenance according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records, treatment documentation, and equipment monitoring logs.
- Educate patients and caregivers on breathing exercises, inhaler techniques, and respiratory care practices.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and hospital policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and departmental training activities.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.

Educational Qualification
- B.Sc. in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor of Respiratory Care / an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Relevant clinical training in respiratory care and ventilator management is preferred.

Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant clinical experience preferred.

Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of respiratory care procedures and ventilator management.
- Familiarity with oxygen delivery systems and non-invasive ventilation.
- Understanding of airway management, respiratory monitoring, and infection control.
- Robust clinical observation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
