The Quality Control (QC) Engineer for crane manufacturing ensures that all raw materials, fabricated steel structures, mechanical assemblies, and electrical systems comply with engineering drawings, safety codes, and national/international standards

Key Responsibilities1. Inward Material Inspection

- Inspect raw steel plates, structural sections, gearboxes, wire ropes, hooks, motors, and brakes against the Bill of Materials (BOM) and approved drawings.
- Verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs), supplier calibration reports, and chemical/mechanical properties.
- Segregate non-conforming materials and coordinate vendor corrective actions. [1, 2]

1. Fabrication & Welding Inspection

- Monitor bridge girders, end carriages, and trolley frames for dimensions, camber, and joint preparation against technical specs.
- Coordinate and review Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as DPT, MPI, and UT/RT for weld integrity. [1, 2, 3]

1. In-Process & Assembly Checks

- Inspect mechanical drive mechanisms, wheel assemblies, drum alignments, span measurements, and structural alignments.
- Check electrical panel wiring, VFD/PLC setups, limit switches, and safety interlocks. [1, 2, 3]

Surface Preparation & Painting

- Verify surface preparation like blasting/grinding removes impurities and check Dry Film Thickness (DFT) and paint finish uniformity. [1, 2]

1. Load Testing & Commissioning (PDI)

- Oversee static and energetic load tests to verify deflection, braking efficiency, and hoist capacity.
- Execute Pre-Dispatch Inspections (PDI) and issue clearance certificates. [1, 2, 3]

1. Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain NCR, CAPA logs, Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), and material traceability records. [1]

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
- Experience: Experience in QC inspection, heavy fabrication, welding, or crane manufacturing.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with GA drawings, NDT standards, welding codes, and Quality Management Systems like ISO 9001.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and cross-functional coordination. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
