: Putty Chemist – R&D;

Role Description

This is a full-time, in office Putty Chemist – R&D; role based in Mumbai. The position is responsible for research, formulation development, and process optimization of wall putty and tile grout products, with strong emphasis on understanding and improving production processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, modify, and optimize formulations for cement-based, acrylic, and polymer-modified wall putties and tile grouts.
- Study and improve production processes for putty and grout, including raw-material selection, mixing sequences, grinding, dispersion, curing, and packaging stages.
- Conduct lab-scale trials, scale-up experiments, and plant trials to ensure formulations are production-friendly and cost-effective.
- Evaluate product performance parameters such as workability, open time, adhesion, shrinkage, water resistance, abrasion resistance, and durability as per relevant standards (IS, ASTM, or company specifications).
- Troubleshoot production-related issues (consistency variation, setting time, lump formation, shelf-life problems, etc.) and provide technical solutions.
- Maintain detailed R&D; records, trial reports, process documentation,



and formulation history.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality Control, and Purchase teams for smooth technology transfer, raw-material qualification, and process standardization.
- Stay updated on new raw materials, additives, and market trends in putty and grout technology and recommend improvements.
- Support customer technical queries and field performance feedback related to product application and process.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Hands-on experience in formulation and production process of wall putty and/or tile grout.
- Strong understanding of cement chemistry, polymers, fillers, rheology modifiers, and admixtures used in putty and grout systems.
- Practical knowledge of production equipment and process parameters used in putty/grout manufacturing.
- Ability to work independently in the lab and effectively on the production floor.
- Good documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
