Role: Workshop Operations Manager

As a Workshop operations Manager , you are accountable for the overall performance of the workshop operations within your area of responsibility. You ensure smooth operations of the workshop with its targets are achieved in terms of output, quality, delivery, and cost, while maintaining a safe and engaging work environment.

This hands-on role requires solid technical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work under pressure. You collaborate with service / supply chain and others teams to maintain smooth operations and contribute to continuous improvement in equipment performance and safety.

You align production capacity with customer demand, support process development, and empower your teams to succeed. You are a results-oriented leader with excellent organizational skills and a hands-on mentality, capable of navigating daily operations while keeping a strategic perspective.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

- Requirements Planning & Execution
- Translate the schedule into executable plans for the workshop operations.
- Ensure material, tooling, utilities and equipment readiness.
- Ensure all processes and workflows needed to keep the workshop running smoothly, including maintenance, repairs, and managing utilities.
- Overseeing the maintenance, security, and overall operation of the worskhop, including tasks like managing utilities, coordinating maintenance schedules, and ensuring safety compliance. Ensure sufficient supplies for all utilities
- Compliance of all safety regulations
- To Plan for future needs, budgeting, resource allocation, and optimizing efficiency to minimize costs.
- Team Leadership & Personnel Management
- Lead and develop a team of line managers, manufacturing leads, and service technicians / engineers.
- Set performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Identify training needs and implement development plans for technical and leadership skills.
- Manage staffing levels and support recruitment when needed.
- Foster a culture of engagement, collaboration,



and high accountability.
- Performance Management & KPI Monitoring
- Track and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as:
- OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) / Output vs. Plan / Scrap/Rework Rates / First-Pass Yield / Downtime and utilization / On-Time Delivery
- Create daily/weekly/monthly reports and dashboards to share performance insights with management and teams.
- 4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure that all processes and products meet internal quality standards and customer requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Quality teams to analyze root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Drive quality-first culture, integrating quality checks into daily routines.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
- 5. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in workflow, layout, or machine usage and lead structured improvement projects.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, 5S, SMED, and Kaizen techniques to eliminate waste and increase productivity.
- Lead or sponsor cross-functional workshops focused on process reliability and throughput.
- Promote digitalization and automation where beneficial to performance.
- 6. Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibility
- Ensure a safe working environment and enforce all health and safety regulations.
- Lead or participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Proactively address unsafe behaviors or conditions on the shop floor.
- Support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives in operations.
- 7. Budget & Resource Management
- Define and manage the production budget, including labor, consumables, maintenance, and indirect costs.




- Track spending and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
- Ensure optimal use of production assets and capacity.
- 8. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Act as the workshop representative in meetings with Planning, Maintenance, Logistics, and Quality.
- Provide feedback to during industrialization of new products or process changes.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure proactive servicing and minimal unplanned downtime.
- Support procurement in supplier performance discussions when relevant.
- 9. Change & Project Management
- Lead or support implementation of new machinery, layouts, or processes.
- Oversee production readiness for new product introductions (NPIs).
- Communicate change effectively to all levels and ensure operational readiness.
- Balance project milestones with daily production needs.
- 10. Communication & Escalation
- Provide updates to senior management and participate in strategic reviews.
- Establish clear escalation procedures for disruptions, deviations, or safety events.

Profile

- Educational qualification
- Engineering / Management graduate
- With relevant experience in maintenance roles
- Expérience in 5S / lean implementation
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical / electrical equipments, utilities
- Functional Competencies
- Understanding of ERP/MES systems and performance monitoring tools
- Familiarity with manufacturing budgeting and capacity planning
- Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949 if automotive)
- Methodological Competencies
- Strategic planning and project management capabilities
- Solid analytical and KPI-based decision-making
- Experience with Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, SMED, Value Stream Mapping)
- Structured problem-solving (e.g., 8D, DMAIC)
- Leadership & Interpersonal Competencies
- Proven ability to lead multi-layered teams (leads, supervisors, operators)
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization
- High degree of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset
