- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations of the PICU, manage staff duty rosters/shift allocations, and ensure optimal nurse-to-patient ratios.
- Monitor the condition of critically ill infants and children, track treatment plans, and ensure timely escalation of critical cases to pediatric intensivists and consultants.
- Act as a bridge between pediatricians, intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and support staff.
- Verify the proper functioning, calibration, and availability of life-support systems (ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps) and emergency crash carts.




- Monitor strict compliance with hospital infection-control protocols, bio-medical waste disposal, and patient-safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate patient records, treatment charts, nursing notes, shift handovers, and support quality/NABH compliance audits.
- Conduct continuous internal training, manage performance, and guide junior staff or recent recruits in pediatric advanced life support (PALS).
- Provide empathetic updates, guidance, and emotional support to families of critically ill children.
