Merchant Acquiring Manager

Experience: 8-10 years | Reports to: Head of Merchant Acquiring | Location: [City, India]

Role Summary

Grow and manage our merchant acquiring business across POS, payment gateway, and QR/UPI. Own acquisition, portfolio revenue, and merchant risk while leading a sales and onboarding team.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive merchant acquisition, activation, and TPV growth targets.
- Build go-to-market plans for key segments (retail, e-commerce, travel, SMEs).
- Develop partnerships with ISOs, aggregators, and channel partners.
- Own portfolio P&L;, pricing, and commercial negotiations with strategic merchants.
- Ensure KYC/AML, RBI, NPCI, card network, and PCI-DSS compliance; manage chargebacks and fraud with the risk team.
- Lead and coach a team of sales, relationship, and onboarding staff.
- Work with product, tech, and operations to improve merchant experience.




- Prepare MIS and business reviews for senior management.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree; MBA/PGDM preferred.
- 8-10 years in merchant acquiring or payments, with 3+ years managing teams.
- Robust knowledge of cards, UPI, MDR, settlements, and chargebacks.
- Proven record of meeting acquisition and TPV targets.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Experience at a bank, payment aggregator, or fintech acquirer, with existing relationships with large merchants or channel partners.

KPIs

- Merchant acquisition and activation, TPV and net revenue growth, take rate, retention, chargeback ratio, and compliance.
