We're hiring for MEP Design Engineer in Chennai location.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced MEP Design Engineer to lead the design, engineering, and standardization of modular Electrical and HVAC systems. The role focuses on developing efficient, cost-effective, and scalable MEP solutions for modular construction, ensuring seamless integration, manufacturing precision, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering

- Electrical Systems: Design standardized, pre-wired modular electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and low-voltage systems, incorporating Poka-Yoke principles for error-free installation.
- HVAC Systems: Design compact, energy-efficient HVAC and ventilation solutions suitable for modular integration, ensuring optimized performance and seamless connections.
- Engineering Calculations: Perform and validate electrical calculations, including load schedules, short-circuit analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, lighting, and earthing, along with HVAC heat load calculations, duct sizing, fan selection, and airflow distribution.

2. Estimation & Quality Control

- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed BOQs, cost estimates, and rate analyses for Electrical and HVAC systems, focusing on value engineering and cost optimization.
- BOM & Specifications: Prepare and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical specifications, and procurement requirements to ensure accuracy and minimize material wastage.
- Design Compliance: Review and approve design layouts, shop drawings, and as-built documentation to ensure compliance with applicable IEC, ASHRAE, IS, and other relevant standards.

3. Leadership & Collaboration

- Technical Leadership: Lead MEP design inputs for tenders, B2B proposals, client discussions, and project execution planning.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with Architectural, Structural,



and Manufacturing teams to ensure seamless MEP integration within modular units.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify design and manufacturing challenges, implement innovative solutions, and improve standardization, quality, cost efficiency, and construction speed.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in MEP design, covering Electrical and HVAC systems, preferably in modular construction, prefabrication, or off-site manufacturing.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, DIALux/Relux, and HVAC load calculation tools such as HAP or TRACE 700.
- Strong knowledge of engineering calculations, estimation, BOM preparation, applicable codes, and technical documentation.
- Proven ability to lead technical discussions, coordinate across teams, and deliver practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
