Core Responsibilities

- Material Sampling & Collection: Collect representative samples of soil, aggregates, cement, bitumen, asphalt mixes, and concrete from quarries, stockyards, or active paving sites.
- Soil & Sub-grade Testing: Conduct field and lab tests including Proctor Compaction Tests, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests, Atterberg limits, and in-situ density tests (sand replacement or core cutter) to evaluate sub-grade strength.
- Aggregate & Bitumen/Asphalt Testing: Perform sieve analysis (gradation), flakiness and elongation index, aggregate impact value, water absorption, and asphalt mix design tests (Marshall stability and flow).
- Concrete & Cement Testing: Execute compressive strength tests on concrete cubes/cylinders, slump tests for workability,



and initial/final setting time tests for cement.
- Field Monitoring: Assist site engineers by monitoring layer thickness, compaction levels, and paving temperatures during sub-base, base course, and wearing course laying
- Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Regularly clean, check, and calibrate laboratory instruments (such as compression testing machines, sieves, balances, and ovens) to maintain accuracy
