Katha - Sharing Stories, Scaling Impact

Kochi

Company Description: Katha – Sharing Stories, Scaling Impact is an AI-powered martech platform that helps brands move beyond traditional channels like TV, billboards, and digital ads to become part of real conversations.

Through Katha

Ads, the company enables personal sharing of campaigns at scale via WhatsApp, along with nano-influencer marketing campaigns powered by hundreds of influencers. The platform focuses on creating authentic, shareable brand stories that are spread by real people within their own networks. Every share, view, and engagement is tracked in real time, providing brands with clear, measurable impact. Katha empowers organisations to reach audiences where they are and turn them into active storytellers for the brand.

Role Description

We’re hiring a full-time human resources specialist for the Founders’ Office Team. The role is hybrid, with mandatory travel to Kochi every alternate week for 1-2 days per visit. You’ll own HR at Katha and work directly with the founders to build the function from the ground up.

- Recruitment (primary focus): Run end-to-end hiring, especially for sales and campaign roles, from choosing sourcing channels to designing screening tasks and structured interviews. Track hiring metrics such as time-to-hire and offer acceptance.
- Employee lifecycle: Manage onboarding, confirmations, documentation and offboarding, and keep accurate records in our HR system.
- Payroll and compliance: Prepare payroll inputs and statutory compliance data, and coordinate with the finance team, who handle filings.
- Policies and processes: Draft and roll out HR policies (leave,

attendance, conduct, work from home, POSH) and build workflows that reduce manual follow-up.
- Performance management: Run review cycles with clear KPIs, and manage performance improvement plans separately from misconduct and disciplinary matters.
- Employee relations: Handle sensitive matters with proper investigation, documentation and confidentiality, and escalate to the founders when needed.
- Engagement and retention: Keep a distributed team connected, run feedback surveys, and track attrition and its root causes.
- HR reporting: Report to leadership on headcount, hiring, attrition and performance outcomes.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of HR experience, including independent ownership of HR without reliance on leadership for routine decisions.
- Working knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, TDS, professional tax, Shops & Establishment).
- Prior experience hiring for sales or other non-technical roles.
- Experience supporting remote or multi-location teams.
- Sound judgement, with the discretion to handle confidential and sensitive situations.
- A root-cause, data-driven approach to problems, with a focus on measurable outcomes.
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills in English and Malayalam (other South Indian languages are a plus).
- Comfort in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.
- Proficiency with HRIS tools (Zoho preferred), Google Workspace and MS Office.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or a related field. MBA/PGDM-HR or HR certifications are an advantage.
