Role Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Technology and Quality Assurance Head to lead our product technology, quality assurance, and quality systems function in a rapidly growing steel organization for flat, long, and downstream products. This role will be responsible for establishing and institutionalizing robust quality systems, processes, standards, and frameworks that drive product excellence, process reliability, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction across a wide range of customer industries including automotive, construction, shipbuilding, energy, defense, aeronautics, infrastructure, and machinery. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s technology and quality roadmap, building high-performing teams, strengthening customer engagement through application-driven solutions, and ensuring the company’s product portfolio consistently meets evolving global quality standards and market expectations.

He/she will design and lead quality assurance strategies using first-principles thinking, process optimization with lean manufacturing practices, quality improvement initiatives, and product enhancement programs. The role will involve critical problem solving in product and process quality, implementation of advanced testing and inspection methodologies, root cause analysis, collaboration with academia [MTech/PhD Guidance], industries, and participation as a statutory committee member in nodal bodies.

This senior role is responsible for spearheading initiatives that enhance steel product quality and consistency, optimize manufacturing and quality control processes, strengthen compliance with national and international standards, and integrate cutting-edge technologies that improve both product reliability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement the organization’s overall technology and quality assurance strategy aligned with business growth objectives for flat, long, and downstream steel products at Angul plant.

- Establish and institutionalize robust quality management systems, standards, policies, and governance frameworks across manufacturing operations at Angul plant.





- Lead product quality assurance initiatives to ensure compliance with national and international standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

- Drive continuous improvement programs in product quality, process capability, yield enhancement, defect reduction, and customer satisfaction.

- Design and implement advanced quality control systems, testing methodologies, inspection practices, and statistical quality tools across the value chain.

- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) initiatives for critical product and process quality issues.

- Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, marketing, and customer technical services teams to resolve quality concerns and enhance application performance.

- Strengthen customer engagement through application engineering support and solution-oriented quality improvements for sectors such as automotive, construction, shipbuilding, energy, defense, aeronautics, infrastructure, and machinery.

- Drive process optimization and operational excellence initiatives using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

- Develop and monitor quality KPIs, dashboards, audit systems, and performance metrics to ensure sustained process and product reliability.

- Lead certification, compliance, and audit activities related to ISO, BIS, API, IATF, and other applicable quality standards and customer approvals.

- Introduce advanced technologies, digital quality systems, automation, AI/analytics, and smart manufacturing practices to improve quality assurance effectiveness.

- Build and mentor high-performing cross-functional technology and quality teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.

- Collaborate with academic institutions, research organizations, industry bodies, and technical committees for knowledge sharing, capability building, and technology benchmarking.





- Guide technical development programs, including MTech/PhD mentorship, industry-academia projects, and competency development initiatives.

- Support new product introduction and product augmentation initiatives by ensuring quality readiness, validation, and process capability.

- Lead customer complaint management and technical resolution mechanisms to improve responsiveness and strengthen long-term customer relationships.

- Benchmark global best practices in steel technology, quality assurance, and manufacturing excellence to enhance organizational competitiveness.

- Participate as a technical representative/member in statutory, industry, and nodal committees related to steel quality, standards, and technology advancement.

- Ensure adherence to EHS, sustainability, and operational risk management practices within all quality and technology functions.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgy, Electrical, Production, Industrial, or related discipline) is mandatory.

- Master’s degree in Engineering, HR, Industrial Training, Operations, or Business Management preferred.

Experience

- Minimum of 20 years of experience in steel or automotive manufacturing, specifically related to technology, quality and process control.

Technical Skills

- Deep understanding of steel metallurgy, phase diagrams, and alloy thermodynamics.
