– Finance Controller / Head – Fund Operations

Role Overview

We are hiring an experienced Finance Controller / Head – Fund Operations for a growing venture capital and alternative investment platform.

The role will be responsible for managing end-to-end fund operations, fund accounting, regulatory compliance, fund administration, financial reporting, and investor servicing .

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Category II Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), Venture Capital, or Private Equity Funds , with the ability to independently manage fund finance and operations, oversee external service providers, and establish robust governance and control frameworks.

Exposure to domestic and offshore fund structures will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fund Operations & Administration

- Lead end-to-end fund operations across the fund lifecycle, including fund setup, investor onboarding, capital calls, investment transactions, distributions, and fund closures.
- Oversee investment settlements, reconciliations, cash flow management, and fund liquidity.
- Manage fund administration processes for domestic AIFs and offshore investment structures, where applicable.
- Establish operational policies, SOPs, controls, and governance frameworks.

2. Fund Accounting & Financial Control

- Oversee fund accounting, NAV computation, portfolio valuation, investment accounting, and financial reporting .
- Review fund-level books of accounts, financial statements, and investor capital accounts.
- Supervise accounting for investments, management fees, fund expenses, carried interest, and distributions.
- Ensure accurate reconciliations, financial controls, and timely reporting.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Governance

- Oversee compliance with applicable SEBI AIF regulations, statutory requirements, taxation, and regulatory reporting .
- Coordinate compliance relating to domestic and offshore fund structures, including applicable FEMA and KYC/AML requirements.




- Ensure timely regulatory filings, investor disclosures, audits, and statutory submissions.
- Liaise with compliance advisors, auditors, trustees, custodians, and regulatory stakeholders.

4. Fund Administration & Stakeholder Management

- Manage relationships with external fund administrators, auditors, trustees, custodians, banks, and other service providers .
- Monitor fund administrator deliverables, including NAV reports, financial statements, investor accounting, and reconciliations.
- Establish service-level agreements, review mechanisms, and quality controls.
- Coordinate closely with investment teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.

5. Investor Accounting & Reporting

- Oversee investor onboarding, capital commitments, capital calls, distributions, and investor-wise accounting.
- Ensure accurate preparation of investor statements, fund performance reports, and financial disclosures.
- Coordinate with investor relations teams on LP reporting and investor queries.
- Maintain accurate investor records and fund-level reporting.

6. Financial Reporting, Audit & Taxation

- Oversee preparation of fund financial statements, MIS, budgets, and management reports.
- Manage statutory audits, tax audits, and fund-level taxation requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Monitor fund expenses, management fees, and financial controls.

7. Process Development & Team Leadership

- Build and strengthen the fund operations, accounting, compliance coordination, and administration framework.
- Implement robust internal controls, SOPs, and risk management practices.




- Drive process automation and operational efficiencies.
- Lead and mentor the fund finance and operations team.
- Support scalability of fund operations as the investment platform expands.

Key Requirements

- 10 -15 years of relevant experience in fund operations, fund accounting, fund administration, or fund finance.
- Strong experience in Alternative Investment Funds, preferably Category II AIFs, Venture Capital, or Private Equity Funds .
- Proven expertise in managing end-to-end fund operations, accounting, compliance, and administration .
- Solid understanding of NAV, portfolio valuations, investor accounting, capital calls, distributions, and financial reporting.
- Sound knowledge of SEBI AIF regulations, statutory compliance, taxation, and fund governance .
- Experience managing external fund administrators, auditors, trustees, and custodians.
- Exposure to offshore funds, co-investment structures, and cross-border fund operations would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, financial control, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a growing and entrepreneurial investment setting.

- Big 4 / Professional Services Firms with significant hands-on fund operations experience

Ideal Candidate A senior finance and fund operations professional with proven experience in independently managing the complete fund operations function , including accounting, compliance, administration, investor reporting, and external stakeholder management. The candidate should be hands-on, commercially aware, and capable of establishing scalable fund operations processes within a growing investment management platform.
