Position: AI Film Director – 3D Animation & Cinematic Video Generation

Experience: 3–6 Years Preferred (Relevant Portfolio Mandatory)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: To Be Confirmed

About the Role

We are looking for a highly creative and technically skilled Generative AI Film Director & Cinematic Prompt Engineer with strong expertise in AI-powered filmmaking, Pixar-style 3D animation, cinematography, visual storytelling, and AI video generation.

The ideal candidate must understand how to transform drama scripts and screenplays into professionally directed cinematic sequences using Large Language Models (LLMs), diffusion-based generative video models, and advanced prompt engineering.

This role requires a combination of film direction, camera knowledge, spatial reasoning, screenplay interpretation, video editing, and generative AI expertise.

The candidate will work closely with our AI engineering team to develop a scalable, script-to-video filmmaking platform capable of producing high-quality animated films with consistent characters, environments, camera movements, and storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

1. Screenplay Analysis & Scene-to-Shot Breakdown

- Read, understand, and interpret English-language drama scripts and screenplays.
- Identify scenes using screenplay structure, including INT./EXT., locations, characters, dialogue, actions, and transitions.
- Convert scenes into detailed, production-ready cinematic shot sequences.
- Understand narrative continuity, dramatic intent, emotional progression, and character motivations.
- Determine appropriate shot types, shot durations, camera angles, movements, and pacing.
- Collaborate with LLM engineers to improve automated screenplay-to-shot generation.
- Refine screenplay actions into clear, visually executable shot descriptions suitable for generative video models.

1. Professional Cinematography & Camera Direction

Must have strong practical and theoretical knowledge of:
- Shot types: Extreme Wide, Wide, Medium, Close-Up, Extreme Close-Up, Over-the-Shoulder, POV, Two-Shot, Insert, and Establishing Shots.
- Camera movements: Dolly In/Out, Tracking, Trucking, Pan, Tilt, Crane, Boom, Orbit, Pedestal, Push-In, Pull-Out, and Handheld.
- Camera lenses and focal lengths: 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and their cinematic applications.
- Framing, composition, depth of field, perspective, and visual hierarchy.
- 180-degree rule, eyeline matching, screen direction, and continuity editing.
- Camera blocking and coordination between character movement and camera movement.
- Cinematic lighting, mood, exposure, and visual consistency.

1. Spatial Reasoning & Camera Control

- Understand 3D environments, spatial layouts, and camera positioning.
- Maintain consistent character positions and environmental geometry across consecutive shots.
- Understand world-space coordinates, camera-relative positioning, movement direction,

and spatial orientation.
- Plan camera paths without breaking established scene geography.
- Prevent spatial continuity issues, including unintended left/right reversals, inconsistent entrances, and impossible camera movements.
- Translate spatial relationships into accurate prompts and camera instructions for AI video models.
- Understand character blocking, staging, foreground/background relationships, and movement through physical environments.

1. AI Video Generation & Prompt Engineering

- Create high-quality cinematic prompts for text-to-video and image-to-video generation.
- Optimize prompts for AI video models such as Seedance, Google Veo, Kling, Runway, and other relevant generative video systems.
- Convert complex screenplay actions into clear, model-executable visual instructions.
- Define character actions, camera movement, expressions, lighting, composition, and scene timing.
- Understand practical limitations of generative video models and adapt shots accordingly.
- Identify and resolve generation issues such as character drift, object duplication, inconsistent motion, unwanted camera movement, and visual artifacts.
- Evaluate AI-generated videos and improve prompts through structured iteration.
- Work with structured shot specifications, JSON-based prompts, and LLM-generated cinematic metadata.

1. Pixar-Style 3D Animation & Visual Storytelling

- Demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality, Pixar-inspired stylized 3D animated content.
- Understand appealing character design, stylized proportions, expressive animation, and cinematic rendering.
- Maintain character identity, costumes, facial features, and proportions across shots.
- Understand animation principles such as timing, spacing, anticipation, follow-through, squash and stretch, and expressive posing.
- Direct facial expressions, body language, gestures, and emotional performances.
- Maintain consistent visual style, lighting, materials, and environments throughout animated sequences.
- Understand how to achieve believable animated movement while preserving a polished 3D aesthetic.

1. A-Roll, B-Roll & Cinematic Storytelling

- Understand the difference between A-Roll and B-Roll and their storytelling purposes.
- Plan primary narrative shots, dialogue coverage, reaction shots, inserts, cutaways, and environmental establishing shots.
- Use B-Roll to improve pacing, emotional impact, transitions, and visual storytelling.
- Understand coverage planning, shot sequencing, and cinematic rhythm.
- Identify opportunities to improve storytelling without introducing unnecessary shots.

1. Film Direction,

Editing & Post-Production

- Understand professional film direction, visual continuity, and scene construction.
- Apply principles of continuity editing, match-on-action, J-cuts, L-cuts, and motivated transitions.
- Understand pacing, scene rhythm, montage construction, and emotional timing.
- Work with dialogue synchronization, sound effects, background music, and visual transitions.
- Review generated sequences for storytelling quality and professional cinematic presentation.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent editing software.

1. Character Performance & Scene Continuity

- Direct character movement, facial expressions, body language, and emotional reactions.
- Maintain consistent character placement, costumes, props, and environment details.
- Ensure continuity between consecutive shots.
- Understand shot-to-shot transitions, visual flow, and character interaction.
- Identify unnatural movement, teleportation, unintended character appearances, and inconsistent staging.
- Maintain believable action timing and interaction with physical objects.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of filmmaking, cinematography, film direction, or 3D animation.
- Demonstrated experience producing AI-generated cinematic videos or animated sequences.
- Excellent English reading comprehension and written communication.
- Strong understanding of screenplay structure and visual storytelling.
- Hands-on experience with generative AI image and video tools.
- Solid cinematic prompt engineering skills.
- Knowledge of camera movement, composition, spatial continuity, and scene blocking.
- Ability to translate creative direction into precise technical instructions.
- Experience with video editing and shot sequencing.
- Strong visual judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate with AI/ML engineers, developers, and creative teams.

A professional portfolio demonstrating AI-generated cinematic videos or stylized 3D animation is mandatory.

Preferred / Additional Skills

- Experience with LLMs such as GPT, Claude, or Gemini for script analysis and structured shot generation.
- Familiarity with diffusion models, video transformers, and common video generation limitations.
- Experience with Blender, Unreal Engine, Maya, or other 3D production tools.
- Knowledge of storyboarding, animatics, previs, and virtual cinematography.
- Familiarity with character reference sheets, environment reference sheets, and asset consistency workflows.
- Understanding of frame-to-frame and shot-to-shot visual continuity.
- Basic knowledge of JSON, structured prompts, and automated content-generation pipelines.
- Experience with AI-assisted voice generation, lip synchronization, and sound design.
- Familiarity with quality-control processes for AI-generated video production.

Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
