There are Seven Units of ABG in India manufacturing Chlor-Alkali products: Grasim Chemical Division Nagda (M.P.), Grasim Chemicals Vilayat (Gujarat) Grasim Chemicals Veraval (Gujarat) Grasim Chemicals Gharwa Road (Jharkhand), Grasim Chemicals Renukoot (UP), Grasim Chemicals Karwar (Karnataka) &
- Grasim Chemicals Ganjam (Orissa). ABG Chlor-Alkali Business (India) is headed by SBU Head.

The Unit Grasim Industries Limited Chemical Division Karwar Facility operates Phosphoric Acid manufacturing plant of 24000TPA & 59400TPA Chlor Alkali Chemicals Plant with Mercury Cell Technology in the name of Solaris Chemtech since 1975. For implementing “CREP Recommendations for Chlor –Alkali Sector “operation of Mercury Technology plant was stopped in Dec 2012.Thereafter, this plant was taken over by Aditya Birla Chemicals ( India ) Limited in September 2013 & replaced old Mercury Cell process of 59400 TPA of Caustic Soda plant by latest state of Art Membrane Cell technology from M/s Uhde Germany .The other By-products are Hydrochloric Acid which is consumed for the manufacturing of Phosphoric Acid ,Liquid Chlorine &
- Sodium Hypo Chlorite.

Caustic

Soda manufacturing is power based Industry and unit requires 22MW power (Approximately 65% manufacturing cost is power cost) The business environment is multifaceted involving different technologies, various qualities of products for fragmented markets.

The Unit is also responsible for procurement of various raw materials and marketing and sales of its products. Initially, after meeting the requirements of Phosphoric Acid Plant, the excess material sold in the market at premium prices because there was a protected market and less supply of material in the market. With the changing time, the demand and supply position has completely been changed. There are as many as 38 players and total market suffers from excess supply of caustic soda.

The Indian Chlor-Alkali industry is facing a competition from global market and dumping of Caustic by other nations. By virtue of its strong commitment towards quality management, company has made efforts to setup Energy Efficient latest Membrane Cell Technology , New Chinese Brine purification Ceramic Filtration ,Variable Frequency Drive for critical Equipment to make the unit more Energy Efficient , Energy Conservation, Quality, Safety, Health &

- Environment.





The Job holder is responsible for the procurement of IT related equipments and other supporting hardwares at the optimum cost so that the overall availability of connectivity is ensured at all time.

Major Challenge

- To maintain uninterrupted IT operations since both plants are at remote locations and having a corrosive environment.
- Corrosive climate makes the maintenance of IT equipments major a challenge as they are sensitive.

General administration: Maintain all IT activities (software, hardware and networking) 1. Ensure uninterrupted operations of the IT systems to support the Business requirement

- Put in place necessary basic infrastructure like proper power, air conditioning, dust-proofing, etc. for the critical equipment like Servers, LAN/WAN equipment, etc.
- Create user IDs, check system availability and authorization and authentication as per requirements
- Create and support the common master data for faster business decision making at business level

KRA2 1. General administration: Maintain all IT activities (software, hardware and networking) 5. Maintain required systems like HR, Time management, Payroll, etc.
- Accomplish the job after getting job requisition from authorized head
- Take Regular Data Backup
- Implement preventive maintenance of hardware
- Ensure Usage of correct tools, conduct testing & implementation with approval

- Intranet: Manage internet and update data on intranet from time to time 1.

KRA4 3. Planning &
- Deployment of IT Resources: Check the requirements and deploy the IT resources including manpower, hardware, software and bandwidth to meet the Business requirements 1. Check utilization of existing resources

- Check additional requirements based on previous year and current needs
- Assist in preparing and submitting proposal to Head IT and implement the solutions once approved
- Develop and implement programs as a team member to ensure services conform to company guidelines, rules and regulations

KRA5 4. Mails &




- Messages: Manage and monitor all email IDs and groups as per the corporate policy 1. Process for ID creation/Deletion and registration of new mail id in local AD server

KRA6 5. Applications and Infrastructure: Make available all applications and infrastructure as per SLAs.
- Make Compliance for all policies

- Fine tune system parameters
- Managing master data for Karwar for material coding
- Conduct Performance monitoring & scheduling
- Monitor file system & their extensions
- Conduct database log cleaning, data archival & data file extension
- Schedule and Manage the DR Drills
- Manage User Training and User Manual Preparation and updation, Application Change Management and User Management

KRA7 6. Continuous improvement and implementation: Continuously improve the existing systems in line with the Business/Group Policies 1. Check the current system and network uptime and response times
- Take actions for improvements in uptime and response times
- Regularly collect information on new technologies, evaluate and share with the Head IT for any proposals and implementation
- Implement after studying the requirement & discussing with users
- Implement current Production Module while ensuring 100% data entry

- Customer Satisfaction: Improve the satisfaction level of internal customers in line with organizational needs / Corporate Policy 1. Understand & study of the user requirement

- Make the review report of problem
- Give target date of the work and design the related document
- Ensure prompt Tech Support Activities so as to ensure continuous IT support to Company’s strategy and objectives
- Ensure calls are attended promptly
- Ensure availability of hardware spares

KRA9 7. User Support &
- Customer Satisfaction: Improve the satisfaction level of internal customers in line with organizational needs / Corporate Policy 7. Coordinate with AMC vendors

- Ensure the equipment history are documented properly
- Ensure data security and server operations
- Provide Internet &
- Intranet access, E-mail access, Video Conferencing, CCTV, MS Lync, Office Tools Software, SAP Issue Slip, PR, Service PO, User Lock/Unlock, Authorization, Poornata access, Onstream Knowledge portal, Safety Observation Portal, etc. to all the users
