About the role

You will listen closely to audio clips and produce detailed, accurate captions of the speech, voices, and sounds in them. You will also review machine-generated drafts and correct what they get wrong.

Preferred background

- Bachelor’s degree or above, and experience in linguistics, voice analysis or coaching, or audio production or audio transcription.

Key responsibilities

- Write natural, native-level English that describes voices and sounds precisely and concisely
- Attribute every line to the correct speaker, including through overlaps, interruptions, and group speech
- Transcribe English speech faithfully, including repetitions, fillers, and names; distinguish English accents and flag lines in other languages
- Describe each voice and how its delivery changes (pitch, voice quality, loudness, pace, emotion, intonation), judging from the sound rather than the meaning of the words
- Identify, count, and time non-speech vocal sounds: laughs, coughs, sneezes, sobs, gasps, and breaths
- Identify and describe non-speech sounds by texture, attack, distance, and level,



and tell discrete events from continuing ambience
- Note which sounds stand out or mask others, and when that changes, including when music starts, stops, or is replaced
- Judge whether a voice or sound belongs to the recorded scene or was added over it (e.g., narration, playback, a music bed)
- Place onsets, offsets, speaker changes, overlaps, and gradual transitions precisely
- Check machine-generated drafts for invented, missing, mistimed, or misattributed content, relying on what is audible rather than the video, the topic, or the draft’s wording
