JOB DESCRIPTION MEDICAL OFFICER (FACTORY)

Experience: 2 to 4 Years (Relevant experience preferred)

Qualification: MBBS from a recognized medical institution with valid registration with the applicable State Medical Council / National Medical Register, as applicable.

Job Purpose:

To ensure employees' health, workplace medical support, occupational health monitoring, emergency medical care, and compliance with applicable provisions of the Factories Act, 1948, and relevant State Factory Rules.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Medical Examination: Conduct or coordinate pre-employment, periodic, and fitness-for-duty medical examinations as required under applicable laws and factory rules.

Occupational Health: Monitor employees' health and identify potential occupational health risks arising from factory processes, machinery, chemicals, noise, dust, or other workplace exposures.

Emergency Medical Care: Provide first aid and immediate medical assistance in case of workplace injuries, accidents, sudden illness, or other medical emergencies.

Medical Records: Maintain confidential employee medical records, examination reports, fitness certificates, and occupational health documentation.

Factory Medical Facilities: Ensure the availability and proper functioning of the medical room / Occupational Health Centre, medical equipment, prescribed medicines, and emergency supplies, as applicable.

First-Aid Management: Coordinate first-aid arrangements, monitor first-aid boxes, and ensure that trained first-aid personnel are available as required.

Occupational Disease Prevention:



Monitor employees exposed to hazardous substances or processes and arrange necessary medical surveillance and follow-up examinations.

Health & Safety Coordination: Work with HR, EHS, Production, and Factory Management to implement workplace health and safety measures and prevent occupational illnesses.

Health Awareness: Conduct employee awareness sessions on hygiene, ergonomics, personal protective equipment (PPE), occupational diseases, and preventive healthcare.

Accident & Incident Support: Provide medical assistance during workplace accidents, document relevant medical details, and support incident investigations.

Hospital & Ambulance Coordination: Coordinate emergency referrals, ambulance services, and nearby hospitals for employees requiring specialized treatment.

Legal Compliance: Support compliance with applicable provisions of the Factories Act, 1948, including Sections 41C and 45, and relevant State Factory Rules, including prescribed medical examinations, health records, and first-aid arrangements.

Statutory Coordination: Coordinate with the Certifying Surgeon, Factory Inspectorate, and other competent authorities wherever required.

Required Skills:

Solid clinical assessment and emergency response skills.

Knowledge of occupational health and industrial medical practices.

Understanding of factory health, safety, and statutory compliance requirements.

Medical documentation and record-management skills.

Good communication and coordination skills.

Ability to handle workplace emergencies calmly and effectively.

Preferred Experience:

Experience as a Medical Officer in a manufacturing plant, factory, or industrial establishment.

Familiarity with occupational health examinations, employee fitness assessments, and workplace medical emergencies.

Experience coordinating with HR, EHS, Factory Management, and external healthcare providers.
