Role overview: We are hiring a Production Manager to lead the fabrication of stainless steel (SS) process vessels, storage tanks, piping and allied equipment, from drawing release to dispatch.

Key & Responsibility

Production planning and execution

- Plan and schedule fabrication of SS304/316L vessels,Filter housings, piping and skids to meet delivery dates.
- Study GA and fabrication drawings, prepare cutting plans, nesting and bill of materials, and release jobs to the shop floor.
- Track daily progress against plan, remove bottlenecks and report status to management.
- Coordinate with design, purchase, stores, QC and dispatch for material availability and smooth flow.

Fabrication and welding

- Supervise cutting, rolling, bending, fit-up, welding (TIG, MIG, SMAW, SAW), grinding and polishing.
- Ensure fabrication as per drawing and client specifications as applicable.
- Control welding through approved WPS/PQR and qualified welders (WPQ); prevent contamination of SS through segregation and proper tools.
- Oversee surface finishing (mirror/matt/buff polish, pickling and passivation) for pharma, food, dairy and chemical applications.

Quality and inspection

- Work with QC to achieve right-first-time output and close NCRs quickly.
- Support stage and final inspections, hydro/pneumatic tests, DP/RT tests and third-party or client inspections.




- Maintain traceability of material test certificates, heat numbers and inspection records.

Cost, productivity and resources

- Control material wastage, consumables, overtime and rework to meet budget.
- Manage manpower deployment, contractors and job-work vendors; track productivity per job.
- Ensure upkeep of machines such as plate rolling, press brake, cutting, welding and polishing equipment.

Safety and people

- Enforce safety practices, PPE use and 5S on the shop floor; lead toolbox talks.
- Train and develop supervisors, welders and fitters; handle shop-floor discipline.
- Drive continuous improvement in cycle time, quality and cost.

Qualifications and skills

Required

- BE/BTECH/Diploma holder mechanical engineering or any equivalent stream.
- 10–15 years in fabrication of SS vessels, tanks and piping, in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong reading of fabrication drawings, GD&T; and weld symbols.
- Working knowledge of ASME Sec. VIII.
- Experience handling shop-floor workers and contract labour.

Preferred

- Exposure to pharma, food, dairy, chemical or brewery equipment (cGMP, ASME BPE finishes).
- Familiarity with ERP for production tracking, MS Excel and basic AutoCAD.
- Welding inspection certification (e.g. CSWIP, AWS CWI) is an advantage.

- Transparent communication with management, clients and inspectors.
- Languages: English, Hindi; Marathi preferred.
