Applications are invited from motivated graduates to work on an ANRF-funded research project at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Jodhpur.

Project Title

Experimental and numerical study of thermoacoustic instabilities in Constant Pressure Sequential Combustor

Funding Agency:Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) – Advanced Research Grant (ARG).

About the Project The project focuses on the design, development and experimental investigation of a constant-pressure sequential combustion system fuelled with green hydrogen-enriched fuels with particular emphasis on thermoacoustic instabilities.

Selected candidates will gain hands-on experience in experimental combustion research, including:

- Experimental diagnostics: FIame imaging, dynamic pressure sensors and photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) for heat-release-rate fluctuation measurements.
- Experimental rig development: CAD modelling, mechanical design, fabrication coordination and instrumentation.
- Combustion research: Experimental testing, high-frequency data acquisition and signal analysis.
- Numerical modelling: Exposure to CFD and combustion simulations, where applicable.

Eligibility and Monthly Fellowship

M.E./ M.Tech./B. Tech/M.Sc. with First class in Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical/Physics with

60% marks for GEN/OBC (55% for SC/ST/PH) from UGC recognized University/Institute, autonomous bodies NIPER/IITs/IISER/NITs/IIITs.

- ₹37,000/month (With GATE/NET Score)+ HRA
- ₹28,000/month (Without GATE/NET Score)+ HRA

Essential: Hands on experience in experimental work

Desirable: Prior Hands-on CAD modelling and CFD experience is advantageous but not mandatory, Willingness to join PhD program
