Finance Manager

Remote (India) | Full-Time | Permanent | Finance / Accounting

Placed by Hotsourced – connecting top talent in India with world-class global companies

This is an exciting opportunity to join a UK finance practice that provides fractional CFO and FD support to growing businesses, helping them gain lasting clarity over their numbers.

Our client is looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to join their growing finance team. Reporting to the Director, you will own the accuracy of client books, from day-to-day transactions through to month-end close and balance sheet review.

The role combines bookkeeping, financial control and client communication. You'll keep ledgers clean, dig into balances that don't look right, and explain the numbers clearly to UK business owners.

Company Description

Our client is a UK-based finance practice led by an experienced fractional CFO/FD. They support small and growing businesses with bookkeeping, financial control, management reporting and strategic finance.

The team is small, ambitious and growing. They value accuracy, ownership and clear communication, and want people who take pride in getting the numbers right first time.

About The Role

We are looking for a Finance Manager who is equally comfortable doing hands-on bookkeeping and stepping up to financial control across a portfolio of client businesses.

You will take ownership of client accounts end to end: processing and reconciling transactions, running month-end close, reviewing balance sheets line by line, and preparing management accounts for the Director's review.

Alongside your own work, you will act as a second line of review for the team's bookkeeper and speak directly with clients to resolve queries and gather information.

This role will suit a self-starter who genuinely enjoys digging into accounts and balance sheets, and who sees work through to completion.

Responsibilities - What you'll be doing:

Bookkeeping and Ledgers

- Running full-cycle bookkeeping across a portfolio of UK client businesses,

including sales and purchase ledgers, bank and payroll journals.
- Reconciling bank, credit card and control accounts accurately and on time.
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns and supporting workings.
- Keeping client records organised so any balance can be explained quickly.

Month-End Close and Financial Control

- Owning month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, deferred income, fixed assets and intercompany entries.
- Reviewing and reconciling balance sheets line by line, investigating and clearing unexplained balances.
- Preparing management accounts and supporting schedules for the Director's CFO/FD reviews.
- Tightening processes and controls so each close is faster and cleaner than the last.
- Reviewing the bookkeeper's work and acting as the team's second line of checks.

Client Support and Communication

- Speaking directly with clients to resolve queries, request missing information and explain the numbers clearly.
- Flagging risks, errors or unusual transactions early, with clear recommendations.
- Managing your own workload across multiple clients and deadlines, and logging time accurately in the company's timesheet tool.

Requirements - What we're looking for:

We think the right candidate will tick most of the following boxes:

- 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting or finance control roles.
- Proven experience running month-end close and preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
- A strong grasp of double-entry bookkeeping, accruals accounting and reconciliations.
- A genuine appetite for digging into accounts: you enjoy finding the story behind a balance,

not just posting entries.
- Hands-on experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Strong client-facing skills, with confident, open written and spoken English when dealing with UK business owners.
- A self-starter who manages their own workload across several clients and raises issues early.
- A completer-finisher who takes pride in getting work fully done and right, and enjoys hands-on work rather than managing a team.
- Comfortable working UK business hours remotely.

Valuable Experience - Nice to Have:

- Experience working with UK clients, including UK VAT and UK month-end conventions.
- A professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA or CMA, part- or fully qualified.
- Previous experience in an accounting practice or outsourced finance firm serving several SMEs at once.
- Experience preparing management accounts and supporting schedules.
- Experience improving close processes or building reconciliation templates.

What You'll Work With

Core tools include:

- Cloud accounting software – such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
- Excel or Google Sheets – reconciliations, schedules and reporting.
- Google Workspace and Google Meet – team communication and client calls.
- Timely – time tracking across client work.

Typical work includes:

- Sales and purchase ledgers.
- Bank and control account reconciliations.
- VAT returns.
- Month-end close and journals.
- Balance sheet reviews.
- Management accounts.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, remote position working UK business hours.

- First month: 08:00–17:00 UK time (13:30–22:30 IST during UK winter time), to support onboarding.
- After the first month: flexible hours around the company's core hours of 10:00–15:00 UK time.
- 9 hours a day, including a 1-hour break.

Pay & Perks - What we offer:

- A competitive salary, benchmarked to experience.
- A fully remote working environment.
