Position: Safety Officer
Industry: Ready Mix Concrete (RMC)
Department: Safety / EHS
Location: Plant & Project Sites
Experience: 3–7 Years in RMC / Construction / Manufacturing / Infrastructure
Qualification: Diploma / Degree in Safety, Industrial Safety, NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent certification preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure implementation of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies at RMC plants and project sites.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits and risk assessments of plants, equipment and work areas.
- Ensure safe operation of RMC plants, transit mixers, concrete pumps, loaders, forklifts and other equipment.
- Monitor safety compliance during concrete pouring, pumping, vehicle movement, maintenance and loading/unloading activities.
- Implement PPE requirements and ensure employees, drivers, contractors and visitors follow safety procedures.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks, safety training and awareness programs for employees and contract workers.
- Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain records of accidents, inspections, training, PPE issuance and safety observations.
- Ensure proper fire safety arrangements, emergency preparedness and evacuation procedures.
- Monitor electrical safety, work-at-height, confined space, hot work, lifting activities and machine safety.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safe storage/handling of cement, admixtures, diesel and other materials.
- Coordinate with Plant Incharge, Operations, HR, Maintenance and Project Teams to resolve safety issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act, occupational safety requirements and company EHS procedures.




- Conduct periodic mock drills for fire, emergency response and other potential incidents.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly safety reports to management.
- Promote a strong safety culture and zero-accident workplace.

RMC-Specific Safety Responsibilities

- Control transit mixer and heavy vehicle movement inside the plant.
- Ensure compliance with speed limits, reversing procedures and vehicle parking rules.
- Check safety conditions of transit mixers, pumps, conveyors, batching plants and material handling equipment.
- Ensure safe procedures for truck/mixer washing, chute cleaning and concrete discharge.
- Monitor hazards related to cement dust, chemical admixtures, rotating machinery and high-pressure concrete pumps.
- Ensure proper barricading and traffic management at RMC project sites.
- Coordinate with site teams to prevent accidents involving workers, customers, vehicles and equipment.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of industrial safety and RMC/construction site safety.
- Good knowledge of PPE, Risk Assessment, JSA/JHA and SOP implementation.
- Accident investigation and root-cause analysis.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct safety training and toolbox meetings.
- Valuable documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently at multiple RMC plants/project locations.
- Knowledge of MS Office preferred.
