About the role

QCIC is seeking an experienced, hands-on Interim Finance Manager to support the migration of our finance function from Xero to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This is a 6-month contract role combining UK month-end accounting with system implementation. You will own the month-end close, run Business Central alongside Xero for a minimum of three months, reconcile the two systems each month, and lead the move to Business Central as our primary finance platform. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, and the role will suit a qualified accountant who understands how Business Central is structured and can make sure the numbers in the new system are right before we switch over. As QCIC's only finance team member in India, you will work independently with the UK-based finance team reporting to the senior Finance Manager. The role can be hybrid or fully remote and hours of work can be determined to suit.

What you will do

As Interim Finance Manager, you will help manage QCIC's transition from Xero to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. You will be responsible for Business Central month-end accounts throughout the implementation, and for configuring, testing and validating Business Central so that its month-end results match Xero before the system is fully implemented.

Key responsibilities are listed below:

- Current Process Review: Review and gain a thorough understanding of our existing finance processes, month-end close routine and reporting within Xero.
- System Configuration: Replicate and configure our finance structure and processes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including the chart of accounts, dimensions, posting groups, VAT setup, bank accounts and financial reporting. Where applicable, this includes multi-company and intercompany setup.
- Month-End Close: Prepare monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, deferred income, fixed asset and depreciation journals, payroll journals and intercompany recharges.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations:



Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations (bank, debtors, creditors, VAT, payroll and control accounts) and investigate and clear reconciling items.
- Management Reporting: Produce month-end reporting packs, including P&L;, balance sheet and variance analysis, and support year-end preparation and audit requests where needed.
- Finance Operations: Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, transaction processing and finance administration in both Xero and Business Central during the implementation.
- Parallel Run: Run Business Central in parallel with Xero for a minimum of three month-end cycles. Close each month in both systems and reconcile trial balances, management accounts and key reports to confirm data accuracy before go-live.
- Issue Resolution: Identify, investigate and resolve any data discrepancies, process gaps or system issues found during the parallel run, working with the Business Central implementation partner where required.
- Data Migration & Reconciliation: Support the migration of opening balances, master data and historical transactions, and reconcile the migrated data back to Xero.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Process Improvement: Work closely with key stakeholders across the business to document processes and put improvements in place where appropriate.
- Training & Documentation: Write user guides and month-end close procedures, and train the wider team once the new system has been tested, validated and is ready for use.
- System Transition & Handover: Support the final cut-over and handover so that the move to Business Central as the primary finance platform goes smoothly.

What we are looking for





- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent), or part-qualified with substantial relevant experience.
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or senior Management Accountant, with hands-on responsibility for the month-end close.
- Strong experience preparing month-end and management accounts on a UK basis, with a sound knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102).
- Robust working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central from a finance perspective, including how it is structured: chart of accounts, dimensions, posting groups, general ledger setup, bank reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Working knowledge of Xero would be helpful.
- Experience leading or supporting finance system implementations, migrations or ERP transitions, ideally including a parallel run.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and reporting processes.
- Ability to analyse existing workflows and translate them into a new system.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve process and data issues.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience delivering user training.
- Self-sufficient and hands-on, able to work independently and remotely as the only finance team member in India, working with colleagues in the UK.
