Role: Senior Confluent Kafka Migration Engineer

Cloud Workplace Build-out & Networking

- Provision Confluent Cloud environments (Dev, Pre-Prod, Prod) and configure RBAC and SSO.
- Configure private networking (AWS Private Link, GCP Private Service Connect or VPC Peering) and ensure routing to on-premises data centers.
- Set up CI/CD automation pipelines (Terraform / GitOps) for topic, schema and ACL governance.
- Configure telemetry, metrics export, consumer lag tracking and audit logging into the client’s observability platforms.

Kafka Estate & Data Migration

- Migrate all topics, schemas (Schema Registry subjects), ACLs, Kafka Connect connectors and service credentials.
- Establish Cluster Linking between on-premises Confluent Platform clusters and Confluent Cloud.
- Enforce data parity, schema validation and consumer offset mapping throughout cut over.

Client Authentication Modernisation

- Support application squads in transitioning away from Kerberos keytabs to Confluent Cloud-supported authentication protocols.
- Option A: Update client application libraries to native API Keys, OAuth or mTLS.
- Option B: Implement an intermediate authentication translation layer where application changes are not feasible.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Core / Essential – Primary Focus

- API, telemetry export, audit logs Hands-on Apache Kafka / Confluent Platform engineering and administration (brokers, Kafka Connect,



Schema Registry).
- Proven delivery of at least one on premises to Confluent Cloud migration, including Cluster Linking and offset mapping.
- Confluent Cloud private networking (AWS PrivateLink, GCP Private Service Connect, VPC Peering) and hybrid routing.
- Terraform (incl. Confluent Terraform provider) and GitOps-based CI/CD automation. Kafka security: Kerberos/SASL, OAuth, mTLS, API Keys, RBAC and SSO.

Supporting Skills

- Google Cloud Platform and/or AWS fundamentals.
- Kafka monitoring and observability (metrics export, consumer lag, audit logging).
- Kafka client libraries (e.g. Java, Python, .NET) to support application squads. Scripting (Bash, Python).
- Advantageous
- Confluent certification (e.g. Confluent Certified Administrator / Developer for Apache Kafka).
- GCP or AWS cloud certification.
- Telecommunications or large enterprise environment experience.
- Experience implementing authentication proxy/translation layers for Kafka.
- Diploma in Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of Kafka engineering experience, including recent hands-on Confluent Cloud experience.
- Demonstrable on-premises to cloud Kafka migration experience (project references required).

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
