Job Description – Care Assistant

Reports To: Nursing In-charge

Job Summary

The Care Assistant is responsible for assisting patients with their daily activities and providing basic patient care under the supervision and guidance of the nursing staff. The role involves maintaining patient comfort, safety, hygiene, and dignity while supporting the smooth functioning of the nursing department.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist patients with daily activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, and toileting.
- Help patients with mobility, positioning, transferring, and walking, as required.
- Maintain personal hygiene and ensure patient comfort and dignity.
- Assist nursing staff in providing basic patient care as instructed.
- Monitor and promptly report any changes in the patient's condition to the nursing staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in patient care areas and assist in making beds.
- Transport patients to investigation rooms, treatment areas, and other departments as required.
- Assist in shifting and transferring patients safely using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Follow hospital infection control practices, hand hygiene protocols, and biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Handle patient belongings and hospital equipment responsibly.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and communicate respectfully with patients, relatives, and staff.




- Respond promptly to patient care requests and emergencies by informing the nursing staff.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge or authorized nursing staff.

Qualifications and Experience

- Minimum qualification: 10th Standard / Plus Two preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting will be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of patient care, hygiene, and infection control is desirable.
- Positive communication skills, patience, empathy, and a willingness to assist patients are essential.

Skills and Competencies

- Compassionate and patient-focused attitude.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, including night shifts, as required.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Physical fitness to assist with patient mobility and transfer.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹21,000.00 per month
