Company Description Superfan.ng is an edtech learning platform focused on African languages and cultural knowledge. The product is a gamified, quiz-first app that helps learners explore African proverbs, traditions, rites of passage, festivals, folklore, and customs. Designed for Africans and the global diaspora, Superfan.ng combines engaging game mechanics with educational content to deepen cultural understanding. The team is building scalable technology to support interactive learning experiences and expand access to African heritage worldwide. Role Description The Senior Backend Software Developer will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that power Superfan.ng’s learning platform. Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting APIs, optimizing database structures and queries, integrating third-party services, and ensuring system reliability, performance, and security. The role involves collaborating with product, design, and frontend engineering to translate requirements into robust backend solutions, as well as writing clean, testable code, conducting code reviews, and improving development processes and tooling. This is a full-time remote role,



with autonomy to propose technical improvements and contribute to long-term platform architecture. Qualifications
• Solid foundation in Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Experience with Back-End Web Development, including RESTful or GraphQL APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
• Proficiency in Software Development best practices, such as version control, testing, CI/CD, and code review.
• Advanced Programming skills in one or more modern backend languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Go, Java, or similar).
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
• Experience designing scalable, secure, and high-availability architectures on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Comfort working in remote, distributed teams and communicating clearly in written and spoken English.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in edtech, gaming, or culturally focused products is a plus, as is familiarity with African languages or cultures.
