Role Description The Head Chef at Footprint Hostel is a full-time, on-site role based in Udaipur, responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations and food service. Day-to-day tasks include planning menus, preparing and plating dishes, managing inventory, and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene. The Head Chef leads and trains kitchen staff, assigns duties, and monitors performance to maintain efficient workflows. This role also involves coordinating with hostel management on menu updates, sourcing ingredients, and supporting special events or themed meals for guests.



The Head Chef is expected to balance creativity with cost control while delivering a consistent and enjoyable culinary experience. Qualifications
• Strong culinary skills, including menu planning, meal preparation, and presentation suited to a hostel environment.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, kitchen hygiene practices, and basic nutrition principles.
• Experience in team leadership, staff training, and scheduling within a kitchen or food service setting.
• Ability to manage inventory, control food costs, and coordinate with suppliers for timely purchasing.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with management, staff, and guests.
• Previous experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or equivalent in hospitality or food service; hostel or hotel experience is an advantage.
• Formal culinary training or certification is preferred but not strictly required if supported by relevant experience.
• Flexibility to work wide-ranging hours, including weekends and holidays, as per hostel operations.
