Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Technical Advisor to join our authorised heavy commercial vehicle service centre. The candidate will be responsible for technical diagnosis, identifying vehicle faults, guiding technicians, recommending appropriate repairs, and ensuring that vehicles are repaired correctly and delivered within the committed time.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of heavy commercial vehicles, diesel engines, electrical systems and vehicle diagnostics.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Inspect and diagnose heavy commercial vehicles for mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
- Understand customer complaints and conduct proper technical diagnosis.
- Carry out road tests and vehicle inspections wherever required.
- Identify the root cause of vehicle problems and recommend appropriate repair procedures.
- Prepare and communicate technical findings to the Service Advisor/Workshop Manager.
- Guide technicians and mechanics during repair and troubleshooting.
- Ensure technicians follow correct repair procedures and OEM specifications.
- Verify the parts and labour required for repair jobs.
- Assist the Service Advisor in preparing accurate repair estimates.
- Provide technical support for difficult and repeat-repair cases.
- Monitor the progress of technical jobs and ensure timely completion.
- Conduct quality checks after repairs and confirm that reported complaints have been resolved.
- Carry out final inspection and road testing before vehicle delivery.
- Ensure proper documentation of technical findings, diagnosis and repairs.
- Coordinate with the Workshop Manager, Service Advisors, Warranty Team, Parts Department and Technicians.
- Support warranty-related technical diagnosis and documentation wherever required.
- Escalate complicated technical issues to OEM/technical support teams.
- Keep updated with OEM technical circulars,



service procedures and product improvements.
- Identify recurring technical problems and recommend corrective measures.
- Ensure adherence to workshop safety procedures and company SOPs.
- Support technician training and knowledge improvement.

Key Skills Required

- Strong practical knowledge of Heavy Commercial Vehicles.
- Good knowledge of diesel engines, transmission, clutch, brakes, suspension and steering systems.
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
- Good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and understand fault codes.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and service procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and customer-handling skills.
- Ability to guide and coordinate technicians.
- Good computer and documentation skills.

Qualification & Experience

Qualification: Diploma / ITI / Degree in Automobile, Mechanical or related field.

Experience: 4–8 years of relevant experience in Heavy Commercial Vehicle service/workshop operations.

Experience with Ashok Leyland will be highly preferred.

Tata Motors, Eicher, BharatBenz or other commercial vehicle OEMs will be preferred.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be technically solid, practical, responsible and capable of independently diagnosing vehicle problems and guiding technicians toward the correct repair solution.

Experience in an authorised commercial vehicle service centre will be an added advantage.
