Role & responsibilities

Purpose To operate, maintain, and monitor the plants HVAC systems, cleanroom infrastructure, and cooling towers. This role ensures that all environmental parameters (Temperature, RH, and Pressure Cascades) remain strictly within validated limits while maintaining absolute compliance with cGMP and safety guidelines on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

- Perform day-to-day operation, routine monitoring, and preventive maintenance of the plant's HVAC systems and Air Handling Units (AHUs).
- Monitor AHU performance parameters continuously, including checking differential pressures across magnehelic gauges, temperature, and relative humidity (RH).
- Operate and maintain utility equipment, including Cooling Towers, water circulation pumps, and air ventilation systems.
- Log and record all environmental parameters hourly in physical logbooks or BMS systems, ensuring strict adherence to Valuable Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Execute cleanroom line inspections, tracking pressure cascades, airflow directions, and immediately reporting any deviations to the shift engineer.
- Assist execution teams during HVAC validation activities, including air velocity measurements, HEPA filter integrity testing (PAO/DOP), and particle counting.
- Perform timely cleaning, washing, and replacement of pre-filters and fine filters according to scheduled engineering SOPs.
- Troubleshoot daily mechanical or electrical breakdowns of AHUs, dampers, cooling tower fans, and related electrical panels to ensure zero production downtime.
- Follow site safety norms strictly, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), work-at-height permits, electrical safety,



and the use of mandatory PPE.
- Maintain the HVAC panel rooms and cooling tower zones in a clean, orderly, and continuous state of GMP compliance and audit readiness.

Required Skills

- HVAC Operations: Strong practical knowledge of AHUs, Dehumidifiers, Chilled Water Systems, and Cooling Towers in a pharmaceutical setup.
- GMP Documentation: Ability to fill out engineering logbooks, operational checklists, and logsheets online/offline with absolute accuracy.
- AHU Maintenance: Proficient in replacing belt drives, servicing motor bearings, aligning pulleys, and cleaning air filters.
- Cleanroom Concepts: Clear understanding of Grade C & D cleanroom environments, differential pressure limits, and contamination controls.
- Electrical/Mechanical Basics: Competency in reading basic layout drawing schematics, tracking utility pipelines, and troubleshooting electrical panels.

Preferred Candidate Details

- Education: Regular, technical certification in ITI (Fitter/Electrical) or a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
- Pharma Background: Must have at least 3 years of core utility experience inside a regulated Pharmaceutical Formulation (OSD) facility.
- Audit Exposure: Familiarity with the documentation and plant upkeep expectations required for facing USFDA / MHRA regulatory inspections.
- Shift Readiness: Mandatory flexibility to work in all rotational shifts to support round-the-clock plant utility operations.
- Technical Agility: A proactive, self-motivated worker capable of executing shop-floor breakdowns quickly with minimal supervisor intervention.
