Role & responsibilities

Purpose To execute the daily operation, preventive maintenance, breakdown troubleshooting, and mechanical servicing of core Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) manufacturing and packaging machinery. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, smooth tool handling, and strict compliance with cGMP and safety engineering guidelines on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PPM) and breakdown servicing of core OSD process machinery across Granulation, Compression, Coating, and Packaging lines.
- Attend to immediate mechanical breakdowns of equipment like Rapid Mixer Granulators (RMG), Fluid Bed Dryers (FBD), Blenders, and Sifters to minimize production downtime.
- Execute mechanical set-up, changeovers, and troubleshooting for high-speed Tablet Compression machines, Auto-Coaters, Capsule Fillers, and Blister Packing lines.
- Handle, inspect, and maintain compression punch tooling sets and specialized change parts, ensuring proper storage and zero damage.
- Log all maintenance activities, breakdown times, and spare part consumption accurately in equipment cards and engineering logbooks following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Check and maintain mechanical components including gearboxes, conveyor belts, drive chains, pneumatic cylinders, bearings, and mechanical seals.
- Assist the engineering validation team during execution protocols for machine qualifications (IQ/OQ) and Factory/Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT).
- Support structural line clearance workflows by ensuring machinery is mechanically protected, cleaned, and properly assembled before production starts.
- Enforce all site safety guidelines strictly, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO),



hot work permits, confined space safety, and the use of appropriate PPE.
- Maintain the engineering workshop, tool room, and processing blocks in a continuous state of GMP compliance and audit readiness.

Required Skills

- OSD Equipment Maintenance: Strong practical knowledge of the mechanical workflows of automated OSD machines (e.g., Cadmach, Fette, Korsch, Pam, Sejong, Autocoaters).
- Breakdown Troubleshooting: Highly skilled in replacing bearings, mechanical seals, aligning pulleys, repairing pneumatic valves, and tracking fluid leakages.
- Tooling Management: Hands-on experience in inspecting, polishing, measuring, and storing compression punches and dies safely.
- GMP Documentation: Ability to fill out equipment logcards, maintenance checklists, and breakdown reports with absolute accuracy.
- Basic Engineering Schematics: Competency in reading basic mechanical drawings, assembly layouts, and pneumatic circuit diagrams.

Preferred Candidate Details

- Education: Technical certification in ITI (Fitter / Mechanical) or a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
- Pharma Background: Must have at least 3 years of core maintenance experience exclusively inside a regulated Pharmaceutical Formulation (OSD) facility.
- Audit Familiarity: Sound understanding of the documentation requirements, machinery hygiene, and calibration statuses expected during USFDA / MHRA inspections.
- Shift Readiness: Mandatory flexibility to work in all rotational shifts to provide uninterrupted engineering support to production floors.
- Team Agility: A proactive, disciplined technician capable of handling heavy equipment changeovers and repairs with minimal supervision.
