(JD) Area Officer - Farm Development (Mithra)

Role Purpose

Lead and manage a team of Executives Farm Development (Sethu) to achieve superior farmer productivity, milk quality, procurement growth, and farmer profitability across assigned clusters. The role is responsible for translating organizational strategy into field execution by ensuring effective planning, technical guidance, performance management, farmer engagement, and cross-functional coordination. The Area Officer - Farm Development ensures that every farm consistently progresses toward organizational productivity, profitability, sustainability, procurement, and quality goals through disciplined execution and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Performance Management

- Lead, mentor and supervise Executives Farm Development (Sethu).
- Prepare monthly, weekly and daily field deployment plans.
- Conduct regular farm audits and joint field visits.
- Build a high-performance extension team.
- Drive cross-departmental coordination.

2. Farm Development

- Farmer induction and production enhancement.
- Monitor farm progression across different maturity stages.
- Ensure every farm has an Integrated Farm Development Plan.
- Prioritize interventions based on productivity gaps.

3. Dairy Productivity Improvement

- Drive improvement across:
- Milk yield, Herd productivity, Fertility
- Reproduction and Calf growth
- Animal nutrition and Housing management

- Coordinate closely with Veterinary and Nutrition teams to solve productivity challenges.

4. Agriculture & Fodder Development

- Monitor implementation of:
- Fodder security programs, multi-cut fodder cultivation and silage production
- Soil fertility improvement and organic nutrient management
- Crop diversification, vegetable production and agroforestry
- Water conservation and climate-resilient agriculture





- Ensure year-round fodder security within the cluster.

5. Integrated Farming Systems

- Promote complete farm integration through:
- Crop-livestock integration, composting and slurry utilization
- Biogas systems and circular nutrient management
- Water recycling, Tree-based farming and carbon sequestration initiatives

- Develop model integrated farms within every cluster.

6. Milk Procurement & Cluster Growth

- Support achievement of:
- Farmer acquisition, retention and milk procurement targets
- Cluster expansion, route optimization and BMC utilization
- Milk quality improvement and procurement cost optimization

- Identify current procurement opportunities while minimizing milk diversion.

7. Milk Quality & Compliance

- Ensure adherence to:
- Clean Milk Production SOPs, organic Standards and antibiotic-free milk protocols
- Aflatoxin control programs, MBRT standards and Farm biosecurity

- Drive zero quality deviations across the region and FAT/SNF improvement.

8. Farmer Capability Building

- Plan and conduct:
- Farmer training programs, exposure visits
- Demonstration farms and lead farmer development
- Knowledge dissemination, adoption of technology and best management practices

- Promote innovation across clusters.
- Improve farmer capability and adoption of regenerative farming practices.

9. Financial Linkages & Farm Profitability

- Support field teams in:
- Cost of milk production, Enterprise diversification, Farm cash flow and Farm profitability
- Investment planning, Credit facilitation, Loan utilization and Return on investment

10. Data, MIS & Analytics

- Ensure:




- Accurate farm data and Daily reporting
- KPI monitoring and Performance dashboards
- Digital platform utilization, Data validation with Actionable insights for decision-making

- Drive data-based review culture.

Coverage Norms

- Lead 5 Executives Farm Development (Sethu).
- Manage approximately 250 farmers.
- Supervise assigned area.
- Conduct joint field visits with one Executive Farm Development (Sethu) per day.
- Complete weekly farm performance reviews.
- Conduct monthly cluster performance meetings.

Other Requirements

- Should have a Two-wheeler, Helmet along with Vehicle documents, Driving License, and Insurance.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

- B.Sc. Agriculture / B.Tech Agriculture
- Or Diploma in Agriculture (with relevant experience)
- Masters degree in Agriculture, Dairy Science, Animal Husbandry, Agribusiness, or Rural Management, MBA-Agribusiness or related discipline (Preferred)

Experience

- 3+ years of experience in agriculture extension, dairy development, integrated farming systems, rural development, or livestock extension.
- Minimum 1+ years of team leadership experience managing field extension personnel.
- Experience in milk procurement organizations, FPOs, dairy cooperatives, or integrated farming projects is preferred.
