Domain: Automotive Electronics (mandatory)

Role Summary The Validation Engineer develops and executes environmental and EMC test plans for assigned automotive electronic products. The role may also include designing and developing the test systems used to run these tests, and ensuring compliance with customer test standards and the Global Product Engineering Process (GPEP).

Key Responsibilities

- Review and analyze product requirements to develop test artifacts, and flag missing or deficient requirements to development teams.
- Develop DV/PV test plans in line with Magna processes and customer test standards.
- Manage testing and interfaces with external laboratories, ensuring tests are executed and reported correctly.
- Log defects in the tracking tool and support defect analysis and debugging with cross-functional teams.
- Analyze test results and present them to development teams and customers. Develop test schedules and timing plans, and track all testing deliverables.
- Design, develop and deploy validation testers, load boxes, load boards and fixtures for environmental and/or EMC testing.
- Support test infrastructure hardware and software development with electrical, mechanical, software and EMC teams.
- Maintain validation documentation and traceability per company procedures and standards (ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504).




- Support recent project quotations and technical proposals.
- Participate in process improvement activities and recommend enhancements to products and processes.
- Follow safety regulations, use PPE and report workplace hazards promptly.
- Level Expectations Level I: Executes defined validation tasks under mentor guidance, applying established techniques. Level II: Works independently with little supervision on design, implementation and testing of hardware. Senior: Solves complex problems independently, mentors engineers, and leads planning, scheduling and reporting of validation activities. Specialist: Drives continuous improvement, benchmarks competitor solutions, supports technical proposals and acts as technical subject matter expert in customer meetings.

Role Specializations Mechanical: Test case development for vibration and shock compatibility.

Thermal/Environmental: Test case development for thermal and environmental compatibility.

EMC: Test plan and specification development, and execution support, for EMC ED, DV and PV testing.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent skills (Master's preferred).

Relevant serial-development experience as per level, with automotive electronics experience mandatory.
