Role Overview The SDM System Integration Engineer delivers subscriber data management nodes across bare metal, VNF and CNF deployments. The role covers integration, deployment, upgrade, acceptance testing and troubleshooting of HSS, HLR,
UDM/AUSF, ONE-NDS/SDL, EIR and MNP nodes, together with their provisioning and peer-node interfaces. The engineer works within the global delivery team and consults directly with the customer to shape the solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform integration, deployment, configuration and upgrade of SDM nodes HSS, HLR, UDM/AUSF, ONE-
NDS/SDL, EIR and MNP — on bare metal, VNF and CNF platforms.
- Integrate SDM nodes with peer elements (MME/AMF, SGSN/MSC, IMS/CSCF, DRA, provisioning systems and
OSS/BSS) and validate subscriber data and signalling flows.
- Configure and validate provisioning interfaces (LDAP, DAP, SOAP/REST) and supporting data-model and schema
changes.
- Prepare and execute Acceptance Test Plans (ATP), record results and drive customer sign-off.
- Plan and support HLR/HSS data migration activities — data mapping, dry runs, cut-over, fallback and post-
migration validation.
- Provide O&M; support and troubleshoot software problems on SDM nodes through log, trace and database
analysis.
- Carry out configuration audits and maintain MOPs, method statements and as-built documentation.
- Act as a technical consultant to the customer, driving solutions that meet their operational and business
requirements.
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Nodes and products: working knowledge of HLR, HSS and AUSF-UDM; ONE-NDS/SDL across VNF, CNF and bare-
metal deployments; EIR and MNP.
- Call flows: 5G, IMS, LTE and GSM registration,
authentication and mobility call flows.
- Provisioning and data interfaces: LDAP, DAP and SOAP/REST provisioning interfaces and subscriber data models.
- Delivery lifecycle: implementation, integration, acceptance testing, upgrades, O&M; and troubleshooting on
telecom core products.
- Tools and platforms: Wireshark protocol analysis, Linux and Telco Cloud environments.
- Troubleshooting: ability to diagnose and resolve software problems on SDM nodes independently.
- Scripting: working knowledge of UNIX/Linux shell scripting (bash) and Perl.
Desirable — Added Advantage
- HLR / HSS migration project experience.
- Kubernetes, VNF and CNF exposure; OpenStack and OpenShift.
- UDR / UDSF and 5G converged data layer experience.
- Provisioning gateway and OSS/BSS integration experience.
- Automation scripting (Python, Ansible) for repeatable deployment and audit tasks.
Qualifications and Competencies
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or an equivalent discipline.
- Highly proficient written and spoken communication skills.
- Excellent cross-functional communication, co-ordination and negotiation skills.
- Valuable consultation skills, with the ability to drive solutions in line with customer requirements.
- Good presentation skills — comfortable addressing a large, predominantly technical audience.
- Ability to think outside the box in order to create mobile internet and mobile broadband traffic management
solutions.
- Self-starter with initiative, enthusiasm and a positive 'can do' attitude.
- Willingness to work flexible hours across global customer time zones and to travel as per business requirements.
