Job Title: Structural Design Engineer

1. Job Purpose

To handle the design, engineering, drafting, fabrication support, and project documentation of MS tanks, SS tanks, and air receivers while ensuring compliance with client specifications, approved drawings, applicable design codes, and project requirements.
1. Duties and Responsibilities

A. Design & Engineering

- Design and prepare engineering calculations for MS and SS storage tanks.
- Determine tank dimensions, plate thicknesses, stiffeners, supports, and structural reinforcements.
- Prepare designs for air receivers based on the specified pressure, capacity, temperature, and applicable pressure-vessel codes.
- Prepare and review General Arrangement (GA) drawings and fabrication drawings.
- Prepare nozzle layouts, manhole details, flange details, support arrangements, and welding details.
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), material specifications, and material quantity estimates.

B. AutoCAD & Technical Drafting

- Prepare 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare fabrication, assembly, sectional, and detailed engineering drawings.
- Develop plate cutting layouts and fabrication details.
- Revise drawings based on client comments and approved design changes.
- Maintain drawing revisions and ensure that only the latest approved drawings are issued for fabrication.

C. Project Data & Documentation

- Maintain complete project-wise technical data and records.
- Maintain drawings, design calculations, BOMs, material specifications, and inspection reports.
- Prepare and update project documentation, including technical submittals and manufacturing records.
- Track drawing approvals, material requirements, fabrication progress, and pending activities.
- Maintain document registers, revision histories, and project completion records.




- Coordinate with the procurement, production, quality, and project execution teams.

D. Client Requirements & Coordination

- Understand client specifications, technical requirements, and approved BOQs.
- Coordinate with clients for drawing approvals, technical clarifications, and design modifications.
- Prepare technical documents and drawings for client submission.
- Ensure all client comments and revisions are incorporated before fabrication.
- Monitor project requirements and ensure timely submission of drawings and technical documents.
- Coordinate with clients and internal teams to resolve technical issues.

E. Fabrication & Quality Support

- Coordinate with the fabrication team regarding plate cutting, rolling, welding, fit-up, and assembly.
- Verify dimensions and fabrication details against approved drawings.
- Support quality inspection, material verification, and applicable NDT requirements.
- Coordinate tank hydrostatic or leak testing, as applicable.
- Ensure fabrication follows approved drawings and project specifications.
- Support site installation, alignment, and commissioning activities when required.

F. Air Receiver Safety & Compliance

- Prepare or coordinate pressure-vessel design calculations and fabrication drawings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable pressure-vessel codes and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate welding procedures, NDT, pressure testing, and inspection documentation.
- Ensure required design reviews and approvals are completed by qualified and authorized personnel.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
- Experience in MS/SS tank design, fabrication, and engineering documentation.
- Practical experience in AutoCAD 2D.
- Knowledge of fabrication drawings, BOM preparation, material specifications, and welding details.
- Experience in maintaining project data, drawing registers, and technical documentation.
- Ability to understand client specifications and coordinate with clients and internal teams.
- Knowledge of relevant tank design standards and pressure-vessel codes is preferred.

The engineer is expected to maintain accurate project records, meet drawing submission deadlines, coordinate effectively with clients and internal departments, minimize drawing-related fabrication errors, and ensure that all technical documentation is updated throughout the project lifecycle.
