- Own the technical direction of the product making and documenting key architectural decisions for both the current platform and the new stack.
- Lead the migration strategy: define the approach, sequence the workstreams, manage risk, and ensure continuity of service for live clients throughout.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance features on the existing .NET and Angular-based SaaS platform, ensuring stability and quality for live clients.
- Contribute hands-on to the migration from the current stack (.NET / Angular / MS SQL Server) to the new stack (Python / MySQL / AWS).
- Build and integrate backend services and APIs in Python as part of the new architecture.
- Work with Celery for distributed task processing and Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration within the new platform.
- Integrate AI capabilities — whether via Ollama for on-premise LLM inference or AWS Bedrock — into product features and workflows.
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into well-engineered, scalable solutions.
- Participate in architecture and design discussions, contributing practical input on migration approach, component design, and technology choices.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards.
- Contribute to technical documentation covering system design, APIs, migration decisions, and operational procedures.
- Lead code reviews, set engineering standards, and ensure consistency and quality across the team’s output.
- Mentor and develop engineers on the team, helping them grow technically and build confidence across both stacks.
- Act as the technical point of contact for product management, translating roadmap priorities into engineering plans and surfacing technical constraints early.
- Evaluate and recommend tooling, frameworks, and infrastructure choices as the new stack evolves.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience,
with demonstrated growth into technical leadership.
- Solid experience with .NET (C#) and the ability to work confidently in the existing codebase — reading, debugging, extending, and refactoring legacy code.
- Strong Python development skills: building APIs, services, and backend logic with clean, production-grade code.
- Experience with Angular or React (or both); able to maintain and contribute to frontend features across the existing Angular codebase and any React components introduced in the new stack.
- Proficiency in both MS SQL Server and MySQL; comfortable with schema design, query optimisation, and data migrations.
- Familiarity with task queuing or workflow orchestration tools — Celery, Airflow, or equivalent.
- Understanding of SaaS product development: multi-tenancy, performance at scale, client-facing reliability.
- Exposure to AI/LLM APIs or on-premise AI tooling (Ollama, AWS Bedrock, or similar) and an interest in integrating AI into product features.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, including deploying and running production workloads.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach to balancing technical idealism with delivery reality.
- Positive communication skills: able to work with product managers, clients (when needed), and cross-functional teams.
- Proven experience leading a team of engineers — setting direction, reviewing work, and developing people.
- Experience owning or significantly contributing to a platform migration or major re-architecture project.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience on a migration project — moving a legacy application to a modern stack while keeping the existing product running.
- Experience with containerisation using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes or AWS ECS.
- Familiarity with telecom, billing, or expense management domains — or any domain with complex data and multi-client SaaS architecture.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in a SaaS environment.
- Exposure to event-driven architecture, message queues (e.g. RabbitMQ, SQS), or microservices patterns.
