Role & responsibilities

Lead the Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Buying, Commercial Negotiation, and Vendor Management function for the Heat Exchanger business.

The role will be responsible for developing a competitive and resilient supplier base and ensuring optimum Cost, Quality, Delivery, Capacity, and Supplier Performance, while supporting project and manufacturing requirements.

The incumbent will lead the procurement and buying team and work closely with Engineering, Quality, Projects, Production, Finance, and Operations to deliver techno-commercially optimal sourcing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

- Lead the Procurement and Buyer team and ensure effective and timely execution of procurement requirements.
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for key commodities including:

- Steel plates
- Tubes and tube-related materials

- Structural steel

- Fabricated components

- Machined and engineered components
- Bought-out components

- Other critical engineering commodities
- Develop sourcing strategies aligned with project requirements, customer specifications, quality standards, lead times, and cost targets.
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, develop, and manage domestic and international suppliers, including alternate and dual sources.
- Build a competitive supplier ecosystem across India, China, Middle East & Africa (MEA), and other relevant global markets.

Commercial Negotiation & Cost Management

- Lead commercial negotiations covering price, payment terms, delivery schedules, quality requirements, warranties, LDs, contractual terms, and other commercial conditions.
- Drive cost reduction, should-cost analysis, market benchmarking, value engineering, and total-cost-of-ownership initiatives.

- Import duties and tariffs
- Free Trade Agreement (FTA) opportunities
- Global supply-demand trends
- Develop sourcing strategies that improve overall procurement competitiveness while managing commercial and supply risks.

Vendor Development & Performance Management

- Identify and develop suppliers capable of meeting technical, quality, capacity, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Establish robust supplier performance management covering Quality, Cost, Delivery, Capacity, Responsiveness, and Compliance.




- Drive supplier improvement initiatives and corrective actions for recurring quality or delivery issues.
- Develop alternate sources for critical commodities and suppliers to mitigate dependency and supply-chain risks.
- Assess supplier capacity, financial/operational capability, manufacturing infrastructure, quality systems, and scalability.

Project & Customer Requirements

- Ensure procurement strategies are aligned with customer and project requirements, including Saudi / ADNOC and other international customer specifications, where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with approved vendor lists (AVL), customer-specific requirements, quality standards, statutory requirements, and company procurement policies.
- Support Engineering and Projects in techno-commercial evaluation of suppliers and sourcing alternatives.

Procurement Execution

- Ensure timely placement of Purchase Orders and effective follow-up through the Buyer team.
- Monitor material availability, supplier commitments, manufacturing progress, dispatches, and delivery schedules.
- Proactively address shortages, capacity constraints, delays, quality issues, and other supply disruptions.
- Establish appropriate escalation mechanisms and recovery plans for critical procurement risks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Projects, Production, Finance, Operations, and Management to support effective procurement decisions.
- Participate in supplier selection, technical-commercial evaluations, project reviews, and strategic sourcing decisions.
- Provide management with procurement insights, market intelligence, cost trends, supplier risks, and sourcing recommendations.

Digital Procurement & Analytics

- Leverage SAP/ERP systems, procurement analytics, AI, automation, and digital procurement tools to improve procurement efficiency, transparency, productivity, and decision-making.
- Develop procurement dashboards and analytics covering spend, savings, supplier performance, delivery, risks, and buyer productivity.

Team Leadership





- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop the Procurement and Buying team.
- Establish clear objectives, KPIs, accountability, and performance-management mechanisms.
- Improve buyer productivity, sourcing discipline, negotiation capability, and procurement governance.

Preferred candidate profile

- 15+ years of experience in Procurement, Buying, Strategic Sourcing, Commercial Negotiation, and Vendor Management.
- Experience preferably in O&G;, EPC, heavy engineering, process equipment, heat exchanger, pressure equipment, or similar capital-equipment manufacturing environments.
- Engineering Degree from a recognised institution.
- Strong experience in sourcing and procurement of steel plates, tubes, structural steel, fabricated components, and other engineering commodities.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, supplier development, techno-commercial evaluation, and cost optimisation.
- Strong exposure to domestic and international sourcing, particularly supplier markets in India, China, Middle East & Africa (MEA).
- Experience dealing with customers or projects involving Saudi Arabia, ADNOC/UAE, or other international O&G; markets will be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of commodity pricing, imports, duties, FTA opportunities, FX, freight, logistics, and international procurement.
- Hands-on experience with SAP, Oracle, or other leading ERP/procurement systems.
- Solid understanding of supplier qualification, AVL requirements, quality systems, and vendor performance management.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical, communication, decision-making, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Exposure to AI, analytics, automation, and digital procurement tools will be preferred.
- Heat Exchanger / Process Equipment industry experience will be an added advantage.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a strategic procurement leader with strong hands-on commercial and sourcing expertise, capable of building a globally competitive supplier base while balancing cost, quality, delivery, technical requirements, and supply-chain risk. Experience in sourcing plates, tubes, fabricated components, and engineering commodities, combined with exposure to India, China, and Middle East supplier markets and Saudi/ADNOC customer requirements, would be particularly relevant for this position.
