Job Title: Senior Project Engineer Primary - Substation Engineering

Location: Chennai

Experience: 10–15 Years

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering

Job Summary

Our client is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong expertise in primary engineering design for AIS/GIS substations and HV/EHV power projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and review substation layouts, sections, general arrangement drawings and equipment layouts.
- Handle earthing/grounding, lightning protection, cable routing, cable trench layouts and electrical clearance drawings.
- Work on auxiliary LVAC/LVDC systems, cable sizing and associated engineering deliverables.
- Review technical specifications, tender documents, BOQs, RFQs and vendor technical offers.
- Coordinate with clients, vendors and cross-functional engineering teams for design reviews and approvals.




- Support site visits, installation, commissioning and as-built documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IEC/IEEE standards, project specifications and quality requirements.
- Review engineering deliverables and guide junior engineers as required.

Required Skills

- Hands-on experience in AIS/GIS substation primary engineering design.
- Robust knowledge of HV/EHV substation engineering and design drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; exposure to BIM tools is an advantage.
- Experience in technical tendering, vendor evaluation and customer coordination.
