Role Description The Senior Mechanical Engineer at Byteforge will lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems for wearables, consumer electronics, and medical devices. This is a client-facing role requiring 8–12 years of experience in mechanical engineering and product development. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and validating mechanical hardware, developing detailed CAD models, building prototypes, and taking products from initial concept through manufacturing.

The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage technical requirements, and optimize designs for functionality, reliability, manufacturability, and performance. Additional responsibilities include supporting product testing, managing suppliers and contract manufacturers, implementing design improvements, and contributing to new product development initiatives. The role may involve up to 15% domestic and international travel.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field,



with 8–12 years of experience developing complex mechanical and integrated consumer products. M.Tech is a plus.
- Solid expertise in mechanical design, product engineering, and taking products from concept through prototyping, validation, and mass production.
- Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD software, GD&T;, tolerance analysis, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA). Experience with Onshape is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes including injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, ultrasonic welding, and overmolding.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing (FDM, SLA, SLS, MJF), laser cutting, and related technologies.
- Strong understanding of materials including plastics, metals, adhesives, and glass, and their applications in mechanical product design.
- Knowledge of mechatronics, structural design, thermal engineering, precision mechanisms, or other relevant mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers, contract manufacturers, and external vendors throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with product testing, validation, reliability engineering, and new product introduction (NPI).
- Experience developing consumer electronics, wearables, or medical devices, particularly those integrating biomedical sensors such as ECG, PPG, or SpO₂, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), simulation, Design of Experiments (DOE), ingress protection, and high-volume manufacturing is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, project management, and client-facing skills, with the ability to independently lead complex engineering projects.
