Research Scientist – CRISPR-Based Bacterial Genome Editing

Key Responsibilities

- Design and execute bacterial pathway engineering projects using CRISPR-based technologies.
- Generate and validate targeted gene knock-ins, knockouts, and genomic integrations.
- Perform molecular cloning, construct design, and molecular characterization of engineered bacterial strains.
- Evaluate engineered strains for desired phenotypes and pathway performance.
- Troubleshoot experiments, analyse results, and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Collaborate with the research team to advance biotechnology programmes.

Qualifications and Experience

- M.Sc./M.Tech. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 2 years of relevant hands-on research experience; OR
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, with at least 1 year of post-Ph.D. research experience.

Essential Skills

- Demonstrated hands-on experience with CRISPR-mediated genome editing in bacteria (gene knock-in and knockout).
- Robust practical skills in molecular biology (DNA isolation, PCR,



cloning, transformation, and sequence-based validation).
- Experience with bacterial culture, strain development, and metabolic pathway engineering.
- Ability to plan experiments independently, troubleshoot, and communicate findings.

Additional Advantage

- Experience in mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays is desirable.
