KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. New Product Development & Sample Approval

- Coordinate the development of new builder hardware products from initial samples to final approval and mass production.
- Study product drawings, technical specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and customer requirements.
- Inspect new product samples to verify dimensional accuracy, functionality, fitment, appearance, and finish.
- Prepare product inspection reports and identify deviations from approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with design, tool room, production, machining, assembly, and finishing teams to resolve development issues.
- Conduct first-piece inspection and verify samples before proceeding with bulk production.
- Ensure that approved samples accurately represent the required product quality and specifications.

2. Manufacturing Feasibility & Process Improvement

- Evaluate the manufacturability of new products using brass, iron, steel, aluminium, and zinc.
- Understand relevant manufacturing processes, including casting, forging, machining, drilling, fabrication, assembly, and finishing.
- Identify potential manufacturing defects and quality risks during product development.
- Work with production teams to establish suitable process controls and inspection checkpoints.
- Recommend design or process modifications to improve product quality, functionality, durability, and manufacturability.
- Support trial production, pilot batches, and the transition from sampling to regular production.

3. Technical Quality Assessment

- Interpret engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and product specifications.
- Use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Evaluate surface finish, dimensions, component fitment, functionality, and visual appearance.
- Identify defects in raw materials, components, and finished products during product development.




- Analyse rejection causes and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Prepare quality standards, inspection checklists, and product-specific inspection plans.

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Coordinate with the NPD, design, tool room, production, procurement, finishing, and merchandising teams.
- Follow up on sample development schedules and ensure timely completion of product trials.
- Maintain records of sample approvals, drawing revisions, inspection results, and technical changes.
- Support product cost optimisation by identifying quality-related process improvements and reducing rework.
- Ensure that all product specifications and quality requirements are communicated before mass production begins.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Preferred experience: 2–5 years in Quality Engineering, New Product Development, Product Engineering, or Manufacturing Quality.
- Experience in builder hardware, architectural hardware, metal hardware, or similar manufacturing industries will be preferred.
- Practical knowledge of brass, iron, steel, aluminium, and zinc products will be an advantage.
- Freshers with robust technical knowledge and relevant practical training may also be considered.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

- Engineering drawing interpretation and dimensional inspection.
- Product sample evaluation and approval.
- Knowledge of metal manufacturing processes and finishing techniques.
- First-piece inspection and pilot batch evaluation.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Quality documentation and preparation of inspection reports.
- MS Excel and basic technical reporting.
- Knowledge of CAD drawings and ISO 9001 quality systems will be an added advantage.
