Role & responsibilities
- Responsible for sampling, testing, inspection and approval/release of incoming raw materials, in-process materials and finished products as per approved specifications and test methods.
- Perform physical and mechanical testing of thermal interface materials and related products, including parameters such as thickness, density/specific gravity, hardness, compression/compressibility, tensile strength, elongation and other applicable mechanical properties.
- Perform or coordinate thermal-property testing, including thermal conductivity, thermal resistance/impedance and other applicable thermal performance parameters.
- Perform or coordinate electrical-property testing including dielectric strength/breakdown voltage, volume resistivity, surface resistivity and other applicable electrical insulation properties.
- Conduct applicable testing of silicone gels, greases, potting/encapsulation and other Electronics Materials products for parameters such as viscosity, consistency, curing characteristics, hardness, density and other product-specific requirements.
- Operate, maintain and ensure proper usage of laboratory/testing instruments used for mechanical, thermal, electrical and physical property characterization.
- Ensure calibration, verification and maintenance of QC instruments and maintain relevant calibration and equipment records.
- Prepare and maintain test reports, COAs, inspection records, specifications, test methods and QC documentation, ensuring proper traceability of results.
- Support establishment, validation and standardization of test methods, specifications and acceptance criteria for new Electronics Materials products.
- Coordinate with Production and R&D; for investigation of out-of-specification (OOS), non-conforming materials and process/product deviations, including root-cause analysis and CAPA.
- Support incoming material qualification, supplier quality evaluation and comparison of raw-material/finished-product performance where required.
- Maintain retention samples, reference samples and testing records in accordance with defined quality procedures.
- Support customer-specific testing requirements, product qualification activities and preparation of technical/quality documentation where required.
- Ensure laboratory compliance with applicable EHS, 5S, IMS/quality-system and documentation requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement of test methods, laboratory practices, testing efficiency and overall product-quality control.
Preferred candidate profile Robust analytical and material-characterization skills with hands-on knowledge of physical, mechanical, thermal and electrical property testing. Familiarity with testing equipment such as thermal conductivity/thermal impedance testers, universal testing machines, hardness/Durometer testers, thickness gauges, viscometers/rheometers, dielectric strength/breakdown voltage and resistivity testing equipment, or equivalent material-testing instruments.
