Position: Project Manager

Location: Rural Technology and Development Centre (RTDC)

Village and Post Office Thunag Mandi and Palampur, Himachal Pradesh

Project Title: Strengthening Community Resilience and Sustainable Livelihood through Landscape based Planning in Seraj Valley The project envisages developing an alternate model for Nutritional and Livelihood Security for Marginalised Mountain Women through Bio Diverse Mountain Natural Farming and its linkages with revival of Integrated Sustainable Mountain Livelihood as well as Revival of Rain fed Mountain Agriculture (Bio Diverse Mountain Natural Farming, Horticulture, Livestock, Fodder and spring shed management through convergence.

Measurable outcomes:

· Development of manual on feasible practices by adapting the existing knowledge and learning from field (local language & English version)

· Collectivization and empowerment of beneficiaries

· Proportion of target beneficiaries adopting new models

· Productivity of meat, milk and wool and other by products

· Quality of lives of producers/ beneficiaries In the long term, the project activities will lead to arresting and reversing the decline in population of goats and local poultry, socio-economic empowerment of the target communities through collectivization and decline the outmigration among backward and marginalized in long term.

About RTDC

Rural Technology Development Centre (RTDC) is a NGO founded in 1988. RTDC is based in Kamlehar Palampur(Kangra District) in Himachal Pradesh. RTDC’s has been working the process of Equity based Mountain specific People’s centered sustainable and Inclusive Development.





RTDC has been facilitating the process of Revival of Rain fed Mountain Agriculture through promoting Bio diverse Mountain Natural Farming, Livestock (small ruminants) Fodder Development based Silvi Pastoral Model and revival of Critical Mountain Springs and also promoting livelihood based Mountain Niche. RTDC has been facilitating the process of Participatory Panchayat Micro planning and GPDP for strengthening the process of Equity based People’s centered Sustainable and Inclusive Development.

RTDC is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and registered under the Foreign Contributions Registration Act (FCRA).

Key Responsibilities:

He/ she will be responsible for

· Overall management of all project activities/ performance on day to day basis

· Develop linkages with all stakeholders/ agencies/Govt. departments for effective implementation

· Scoping and visits to potential stakeholders/ agencies

· Liaison and mobilisation with community

· Identification of beneficiaries, need assessments

· Onsite support and handholding to field team

· Capacity building of Staff and community

· Developing training manuals/ materials, training schedule, feedback, reports, evaluation

· Ensure timely reporting and documentation

· Projection of advance market demand through market survey

· Data management & reporting, communication

· In addition to other responsibilities,



the project manager plays a crucial role in mobilizing resources for the landscape investment plan through convergence.

Skills and competencies required

· Good written and verbal communication

· Willingness to work at grassroots level in mountain terrain

· Experience of working on livelihood development program with rural communities

· Experience of working with community institutions(SHGs, Producer’s Company , Federations)

· Experience and expertise on training and capacity building of community institutions, community leaders specially women, community resource persons.

· Good project management and planning skills

· Good computer skills

· Good report writing, proposal writing skills in English

· Good financial management skills

Language: English, Hindi

Experience: 3-5 years’ experience of working with rural communities on farm based livelihood projects.

Education Qualification: PG Degree in development related field- Agriculture, Social Work, Rural Management, Rural Development, Development studies

Compensation: Rs. 20,000- 25,000 per month, depending upon relevant experience
